Eating in the Fifties

Did anybody try " Ralston" breakfast cereal? Loved that stuff with toast&jelly.

I was in the grocery store yesterday and wanted a can of diced tomatoes. Heck there were twenty different types, all different spices added, different names. Where's the fkn plain diced tomatoes!

That holds true with a lot of things now days. Who complicated all of this anyway?

People don't know how to cook today it has to be for them. Biggest problem is what to cook, for my wife and me. We both cook but it's a who want to.

Whole tomatoes are the best apparently if you're going tinned. The tins with chopped tomatoes have all the bruised bits from the good stuff. Basically tinned chopped is just the scraps.

I don't like cutting them up. I'll pick out the bad ones. Going into a big pot of vegetable beef so no one will know. I hate buying this crap in the stores anyway. I'm a transplanted farm boy!

Hey, ever see the lable on store bought chicken or eggs? "Cage free" I've never seen a chicken in a cage in my entire life! They raise them in gigantic buildings. Stupid people believe anything.

and I helped. Ate pretty much raw hamburger. Should be dead.

They give away eggs here. I drive past a sign that says.

Free
Range Eggs

Give me a break, where else would you cook them!

Then I suppose our eggs should be called barn kept/ free pasture eggs? lol.

Show me a store bought egg that's orange inside and not a runny pale yellow. Big difference in raising animals the old fashioned way.

Bacon that I had on the farm was 2/3 meat, 1/3 fat, not the other way around.

Tomatoes are red with red inside, not pink and white on the inside.

If people knew the difference on a lot of things, they wouldn't buy what's in the stores.
