With my 2.94's I never stopped to ask the guys in the LTD's behind me where their speedo's topped out at !
 
When I was a kid my Dad had a 39 ford pickup that had a 409 w tripower and a 4 speed. Sounds like it would be fun..it looked kool.... but someone thought it would be a good idea to lighten it up by making the frame into swiss cheese with a torch. The truck would twist and you could steer it accelerating but as soon as you hit the brakes it was a death trap. No idea where it was going to take you. Dad sold it before I could drive...probably wise.Lol

70 cuda. Stroked 440 street car. 6 bbl. Shaker hood. 4 speed. 700+ hp. Dennis knows the owner who is a great driver and knows how to handle it but as a passenger I am tense and holding on whenever I climb into that car.

Seems a common theme with many of these stories is a 4-speed. I can vouch for that as my old Chevy 327 4-speed was lots of fun.

I road in a tri power goat that really impressed me. Really impressed me. Like others have said faster in the passenger seat. Memories become legends over time. Cool input fellas.

Absolutly man. My older brothers friend had a 64 nova 350 horse 327 4 speed. 410s. Beat alot of big blocks. Giant killer.

Back in the day it was a new '68 Coronet..don't know what was in it, but the the car was barely streetable. It was the psychedelic paint job (like this type, I know it's not a Coronet) where all the panels were outlined. I got a short ride with this guy as a favor, but he didn't get on it to hard. I had seen the car run at a place everyone went to to street race in the 60's and early 70's and it was absolutely crazy fast.. Neighborhood story goes this car was always very fast, but he got beat by a Cuda and a short time later they stole the Cuda for the engine. I have no idea if that was true. Car was a monster, big cam, gear drive, crazy noises as it started moving, but a light tap on the gas and it all came together.

Anyway around 73/'74 I'm working at the county Sheriffs garage. Had a Charger at the time, and the deputies knew I liked fast cars. One day a deputy asked me if I had seen the car in the buildings sub-basement. I told him no, I didn't know the building had one. He took me down there and there was one car in it. Yep, it was the Coronet. The guy had been busted for drugs some time ago and the car was impounded down there. I lifted the hood and was surprised to find it wasn't a hemi. One of the valve covers was off and someone took a few of the roller rockers, the air cleaner was missing and you could see this giant 4 bbl. He said that the car would be going up for auction someday, but I left the job before that happened.

Yeah dads buddy had a 66 chevelle 396 ss. Warmed up. Fun car. Seems there's a chebby theme in this thread. All good but is it blasphemous? Who cares man. Good times. Those darn chebbys.
 
In High School in a Mach 1. My buddy's car. We were well north of 100 on the local freeway when he shut it down - as I recall we were about to pass a CHP! Just got a look at from the Officer. Slightly (more than a little!) scared me.

He hammered it, nitrous activated at full throttle...superfast! Been there. My buddy has a 65 cobra kit car. Roush 427. Over 600 horse. Weighs nothing. It just not right. Stupid quick.
 
Test drove a '69 Hurst Olds for a guidance counselor that I had in high school. He asked me to give it a tune up while I was attending Vo-Tech.
I had to give it a test drive!

Scariest was my 71 Roadrunner back in the day. 440 6bbl 4 speed and 410s out back. Motor was a little "souped up" LOL. It would just go sideways everywhere. I got pretty good at drifting long before it became popular.
