Gas Tank Vent Lines

I opted for the stainless steel kit from Mega Parts made by fine lines. There was very little tweaking to get them to match the originals. What was different was the original plugs/clip versus the news ones. The two original plugs had no part numbers or logo but had 4 raised dots. The plugs offered in the kit had a part number and a funky looking pentstar.

The smaller vent line has a odd clip to attach the line to the upper shock support brace. The difference between the original and the new one are easy to spot. The hose offered in the kit is clearly different from the original. The new hose was a fuel line hose but the original was a thin walled standard hose. So made a trip to Oreillys and found almost an exact match for .40 cents.

Has anyone tried this? Wheel Armor from ECS automotive. I cleaned all the stainless lines and they applied this to them prior to install. Take a look at the rag, that was after I cleaned the line and then polished with Wheel Armor. It is very easy to use and to wipe off and provides an added protection from the elements. Sure, stainless steel doesn't need protection but it will lose some of its shine with age. This will be used on all my plated parts and the gas tank and those are a must for added protection. Especially, when it doesn't change the finish.

Vent lines are all installed and I am patiently waiting for the sending unit to get calibrated and sent back to me. That way I can button up the whole rear end.....Until then I will be bouncing around a bit on the assembly.

Driver side exhaust hanger bracket

The original bracket and hardware was sent out for plating. I had a new kit to compare these with. The only part that was correct between the two was the attaching nuts. Main difference between the two is the original bracket has a stamping on it and the new one does not. The bending, shape and the look of the new bracket does not even come close. The angle of where the exhaust hanger attaches is off as well.

Mine is pitted a bit and I am in search of an NOS or a mint used one. In the meantime this one will have to do but is an easy changeout.

Haven't tried Wheel Armour but got ECS's RPM though

Getting headliner parts installed.

I painted the rear window pieces with a silver zinc paint and the screws. The two original small tension wires had lavender paint on the ends. So they got black zinc and the ends with lavender paint. The bow retaining clips were original and unrestored.

Front Bumper Brackets

Stripped, primed, painted and detailed the front bumper brackets. The correct color is Semi gloss black and they were originally dipped. So I recreated the "dip look" with sags and runs etc. but hard to show in the pics. Chrysler used to manufacturers on these brackets and one was in Canada, hence the made in Canada stamp. All original hardware was black zinc plated.

Speaking of stamps. I get all of my stamps from Sylvain:

These are installed prior to undercoat and that is the reason why they are going on. Soon I will be putting the undercoat on to mimic the factory look.

Here is a comparison of OE, NOS and the last pic is the repop bumper kit above the installed NOS stud and OE bumper.

The NOS, OE and Repro had the same part numbers. The NOS had the Pentstar, the OE and report had the DPCD logo. The Spacing on the new was different that the original equipment. The stud in the new set had the wrong phillips size and finish.

Comparison of the OE door bumpers versus the Repops

The OE has ridges/lines on one side the repro does not. The inside area is different as well.

Washer reservoir and pump

This is an NOS reservoir. They only one I could find had a date code for 70 but better than a repop. The caps had two style with w/script and one w/o script, mine is with script. The washer pump is the correct dated NOS pump. The filter was for 70 and above but since the washer is a 70 I just decided to use it.

The hardware/screws is from Frank Badalson
