I want to raise the front ride height on my charger. Is it really as simple as just turning the torsion bar adjustment screw clockwise to apply more load ? I will be getting the car aligned very soon, so I would like to pick up the front about an inch.

Yep. 1 full revolution should raise the front about a 1/4". Jack the front of the car up first to get the weight off the wheels. Also, I personally would loosen the lower control arm nuts up first as well if you are going up that much.

I would also suggest getting some lube on the threads.

Agree with above, like Don said.
Clean and lube generously!
Putting a paint dab on the bolts will also help with referencing how many revolutions you've made.
Remember to jounce it when you're done, it helps to take it for a spin when done to see where it settled.
