How's it going everybody? I just picked up a 1967 coronet 4 door that needs some fixins here and there. It's got a 440 but not the original 440 that came in it. The previous owner bought it and owned it for 8years, and never really got the chance to drive it after he had done a lot of work to get it to the point where it is now. He had the 440 built by a guy 40 miles away from Blackstone, VA but he didn't know anything about what the guy did. From what I've looked up so far from the block casting, it's a 2536430-10 which is a '69-'72 block. It has the extra rib going down the side of the block. I know the earlier 440 motors didn't have that rib. When I pulled the valve covers I found that it has the. "452" heads on it. 650 Holley, Torker intake, some brand of headers. Electric fuel pump. He doesn't know what cam the guy put in it, but it's "one size above stock." Would that be a mopar purple shaft maybe? I'm going to call the builder(the seller of the car gave me his number) tomorrow and see if he remembers anything about the motor. It definitely needs fresh gas, and the carb needs to be rebuilt. I did some timing and carb adjusting just to play around with it, and the initial timing was set at 10.* I bumped it up to right at 15* and adjusted the mixture screws, and it runs a lot cleaner than it did before. Couldn't seem to pull more than 15psi on vacuum though. Anyways, I'll be asking lots of questions in different parts of this forum in the days ahead. Thanks in advance for the knowledge I will undoubtedly receive.
