Yes.. because you can let the clutch out some to load the rear end so it doesn't get that hard shock.
 
I'm guessing overheated clutches and the amount of coordination required were the downfall. Definitely too many things for my brain to keep track of.
 
Real race cars have 4.88 gears, that 1-2 shift comes up real quick.

Overheated clutches wouldn't be good.

Back in the day some tracks have a sloped starting line and some stick shift cars would roll at. the line and go red
 
I thought of making something like this for stick cars without a pedal parking brake. I live close enough to a hilly city that if I had an older manual car I would make sure it has the hand style parking brake just for that occasion.
