My high-school dream car. I had removable hardtop on the list. Those bad boys were $3,500 back in the late 70s when we were buying muscle cars for $1,000 or less. Beautiful ride and the right color!
I built up a 73 454 car for a buddy, ran 12.20s consistently. He ended up with a fair amount of trophies.
I had the same philosophy flipping houses. I've always said that you make or lose money the day you buy it. If you have the right plan, you'll make it. To make $20k you must be buying it right. That car looks solid from here. Will you do paint? What else?
I like the Gen2 Corvettes the best.....but were not Corvettes made to be powerful AND have good brakes and turn corners? That is why they were so expensive! I was amazed when I looked at the sticker price in 66 when I first went into a Chevy dealership until I did some research on them. Same holds true today imo. Anyways, I'm sorta impressed on the new ones but still like the G2 cars....Corvettes are wonderful - have power/can make power like a musclecar AND have brakes and can turn a corner. Dad had a 66 L79 roadster when I was a kid and I've had a couple of 3rd gen cars - a 70 both top car and a 73 coupe - in the past. Sure wish I could afford a midyear, but not likely to ever happen...

Why rent one? If you have a smart phone, you can buy a borescope on Amazon for it for about $25.

I think you're right about second generation Corvettes. This 2003 can be had in the low 20's and has 17,000 miles. I don't do Corvettes, but this one works for me.
Last guy who loaded my truck had one of those. He was a career mechanic who had worked on every make and model under the sun. Much like our old Mopars when they were just cars, he felt the Corvette was a cheap way to get into a car with good performance. He paid $16,000 for his a few years ago, nice one owner car.
