I think I broke it already

Naw, not really. I think he said it pretty much had to be a bearing, but he'd have to look at it.
Honestly, the dude just sounded real tired and very busy. I did manage to loosen him up a little when
I brought up subjects like Graveyard Cars/Mark Worman, Professor Rick Ehrenberg and the like.
I think I embarrassed him a little when he answered the phone and I said "wow, THE Jamie Passon?". :)

That's pretty funny. He is sort of a quiet guy. But he definitely loosened up the second time I met him when I picked up my car and we talked Mopars a little. I think you'll be very happy with his product and service. I was.

It's gotta be good odds, anyways - I've never seen a bad word written about the man. Dan Brewer either, really.

Makes me nervous to buy something of this size ($$$) over the phone without so much as an email confirmation, I can say.
Tried to contact him through his website, but that site isn't the best and that feature doesn't work, either.

No worries at all. I gave him my whole car for a month !!!!

You heard from him once in a while, right?

I think I spoke to him once maybe twice during the process, not counting before i dropped the car off. There was an issue with the bellhousing I gave him. It was an aluminum 513 that I bought used. Looked great to me. But it was slightly warped according to Jamie and he couldn't dial it it. He spent alot of time on trying to fit it and suggested not using it. I took his advice and bought a used 513 that he had. The guy is totally hands on in his shop and spends very little time in the office. He always responded to me if I left a message though. I wouldn't worry at all. He's a stand up guy and knows his stuff.

I heard from him today, made me feel a ton better. Told him I had about enough time to do this one last time and decided to go with the best in the biz.
He liked that. :)

I guess he must be close to shipping, as he took his money out on my card today?
Wish he'd at least email me or something....

I've delt with a couple of vendors like that, no communication hardly at all and all if a sudden it's at your front door. A couple were big ticket items too. Not even a tracking number. Seems like it was always the ones that have been in business for a long time.

An expected delivery date should be part of business. A common courtesy. I have to plan work around material deliveries. Dealing with shipping delays has become an issue.

Sent him an email requesting confirmation it was him taking the money at the least.
Sheesh, this is not how you do business, I don't care how damn good you are.

I dont like paying untill there has been a confirmed ship date established. I can understand a down for something unusual to cover materials cost.
Hope your transmition arrives soon.

I always establish the sequence of events when in a situation like this. When will you ship, when will you charge my card, how is it going to ship, tracking info or if common carrier, pro number, how will you notify me when it ships and expected delivery date, etc etc. I do this routinely with my business, so it's natural to do on personal items too.
As I have reassured you previously, I wouldn't worry. Give Jamie a call though and ask him the status.

Update:
I got a voice message from Jamie yesterday saying the transmission was on the way and I should
expect it Wednesday next week.
Still no documentation of any sort, not even an emailed receipt.

This better be one hell of a special great transmission.....:soapbox:

By the way, I'm going to try to install a pilot roller bearing in the back of the crank this time in place of the brass bushing.
I understand these fit into the recess in the crank that the torque convertor usually does on an automatic.
How are they held in place? Is it a press fit? Do I need to "glue" it in somehow?

No glue needed, just clean the hub area with a dremel wire wheel. It doesnt have to be perfect, but is probably rusty.
Watch an installation video, pretty simple though. Put it in freezer overnight, drive it home.
I have one in my RR now, couldn't find an undersized bushing at the time. Seems to work well.
Good luck Ed

And no worries about Passon, great guy.

I'm sure he is, but this isn't how to conduct business. Perhaps he needs to hire some help.

Ok, so press fit.
Thanks!

I am thinking , if your new tranny input shaft has not had the front of the input shaft cut off, and since you are going to the needle bearing located in the torque converter snout boss, maybe you should take your pilot bearing out of your crankshaft. The clearance there may not be enough since you had some trouble drawing up your tyranny to the bellhouse. I don't think that had been ruled out as a source of your original noise?............................MO

Oh yeah, that's a given. Old bushing will be history.
In fact, I'm willing to bet it comes out stuck on the input shaft of the current transmission.

It has arrived. VERY well packaged:

I don't see any damage at all. For what they charge to crate and ship ($200!) there best not be.

Reckon it's time to holler at the garage. :)

By the way, just how much "slop" should there be in the input shaft?
This one turns freely for sure, but it has quite a bit of slop to it.
