Everything going along great trying to fix fluid leak. Got old seal out with yool, no prob. After removing e-clip and rubber seal I pushed shaft into valve body. I don’t suppose there is any to get it out w/o dropping pan and valve body? I really didn’t want to screw with that!!! Any suggestions guys? Thanks.

It looks like I can see the end of it, any chance you can carefully fish it back out with a magnet?

That’s just the kickdown shaft IIRC

I don’t think you have to drop the vavle body or the selector comb.

I knocked out my seal from the bottom since I didn’t have that tool. Bonus was it let me clean/polish up the surfaces that the seals ride in so they seal good.

I have pics here of when I dropped mine:

There’s just a lever at the end of that shaft that dropped down:

@autoxcuda @1 Wild R/T finished installation on both shaft seals, thanks for the advice guys as it went pretty smooth. No dropping of the valve body, but I tossed 2g. of new atf as I was constantly topping it off. Shaft was smooth, no galling, just a little discolored, so I left it alone. Linkages cleaned and reinstalled. Since they were always wet they collected alot of sand and road grime. New filter and gasket installed as well. Since the car is not running yet I’m hesitant to add the 2g. of atf that I removed since the converter is not going to fill. Guess I’ll fill it prior to starting. Thoughts? Thanks again guys…

You can safely dump 4-5 qts back into the trans.... Personally I dump the fluid into clean 1 gallon jugs, usually I have a half dozen Antifreeze jugs laying around that I flush with water till clean then use a little brake clean... I use paint strainer filters in the funnel to prevent debris getting into the jug... Back when trans fluid was a dollar a quart I'd dump it... These days if it's still bright red I save it...
