Thanks all check it out.If you have some skills and are short on cash, you can piece it together.
Silver Sport Overdrives makes a bolt-in kit if you have the cash.
Being a former Mr Good wrench, stay away from 200 POS!Some builders actually prefer the 2004R. Not sure why, maybe because it is smaller and has a better gear ratio spread?
I fitted a 700R4 in a 76 Camaro in the 90s. Easy swap in those cars!
Thanks The trany I'm thinking of using is built and good for 700 horse. Its out of a late model vette and fresh. Its the one like a 4l60 without the computer. The motor is a rb stoker with 2 eddys and I have a gm linkage bracket for the cable. It also has electronic speedo. I'm going with new gauges so that's not a issue. I have to get a new driveshaft anyways (dana swap). Ive been looking into the 518 swap but the fact that I've been sitting on these parts and have them makes it a little easier. ThanksThe 700 can be built and modified to handle 600HP reliably but it takes some special parts to get there
That's the one I have, link or arm mounts to the passenger side of the tail shaft. it take 2 through bolts from top to bottom. Its a tci street fighter version. was thinking I could make my own mount off the side.(My car is not a factory cross member or frame.) But that's what I was thinking, not sure if at all possible that way.The last Corvette to use a 700R4 was 1993 behind the LT-1 engine. It uses a unique 5 pin round case connector but can be re-wired and changed to the earlier square connector. None of the Corvettes beyond 1983 had a provision on the case to accept a transmission mount so check that first before you start your swap. The Corvette used a shorter extension housing and output shaft than any other 700R4 and a unique tail housing mount that incorporated the link to the rear diff.

I've never had one or no much about them. I just have this and another trany leftover from a couple 6 speed swaps. figured it was a good idea. But soon will tell. Not sure I would be doing this if I didn't have it already. But thanks for the infoYou probably dealt exclusively with stock 200's, the 200R4 can easily be built to take a lot of power just like the underrated 904 TF.
I don't think you need to cut the pan for the 700 swap. there's a thread on here where it was done on a wagon. 66 or 67 wagon. Mine is a 6 hole also. Thanks , Your cars looking good.I picked up the TCI 149180 kit dirt cheap at a swap meet. The mounting plate had already been shaped as not to be used as a mid plate.
Now the kit I got was was for an 8 hole crank ( if anyone needs a new flywheel I have one), I have a 6 bolt. The flywheel adaptor is $200.
I'm still not sure if I want to go that way...I have a brand new pan and am not keen on cutting it to make a 700 fit. I dont know the size differences between the two. Thought about going with a 4l80e since the Terminator will/can control gm granny.
May just save up and buy a GV later on...
I also have a 4l80e going in my 69 firebird . That's a big trany, And the converters aren't cheepI picked up the TCI 149180 kit dirt cheap at a swap meet. The mounting plate had already been shaped as not to be used as a mid plate.
