Just a Thought EV

I’ve noticed the Amazon delivery and trash trucks here are now incorporating electric drivetrains. It MAY make sense in those cases with our mild year round weather. I do wonder if the garbage truck drivers get range anxiety halfway thru their shift.

Partially related (if you think about it) they are pushing for houses in my area to abandon natural gas and go all electric. If enough people agree they may just turn the lines off.

So, California wants people to get rid of natural gas, and go electric. The biggest percentage of the electricity in California comes from natural gas powered plants.

Hmmmm...

Yeah. They are blaming Data Centers with the large uptick in power needs to accommodate A.I.

There will come a time where A.I. usage will need to pay reparations to people as compensation for its cost and in its reduction to workforce. Just a matter of time in my opinion. If I'm not mistaken, there is already thinktanks in writing such legislation.

Speculation on my part but here goes:
I believe its because the gas lines to all our houses are really old and they want to avoid the cost of replacing them. Easier to just worry about the lines to the power plants. They are probably thinking of the time a neighborhood exploded due to a ruptured gas line some years back.

Wouldn't it be up to the utility companies to maintain and replace any lines that are not safe? The same companies that won't have any customers if everyone stopped using natural gas, so it would be in their interest to do so.

This one utility company provides both gas and electric, so if we switch we still pay them, just only for electricity.

Seems like everybody that tows a trailer with their 4 MPG "gas" gas guzzlers that they might consider EV,
An example from recent testing;
"the F-150 Lightning achieved only 90 miles of range while towing a 6,800-lb boat on a single charge, compared to 160 miles for a gas-powered Sierra"

And the powered GMC Sierra can refill it's tank in under four minutes...
The F150 takes 41 minutes with a 150kW fast charger... If you can find one... Or 14 hours on a level 2 240v home charger...
