Just a Thought EV

I basically hang out on this and a Maverick forum. On the other forum towing comes up quite a bit and while they aren't heavy load towers everyone seems to be happy towing with that platform, both in Turbo 4 and Hybrid configuration. But boy am I tired of towing threads! :D
I did get mine with the towing package, not because I have any intentions to tow, but because it comes with deeper gears, yes I'm the weirdo that gets an economy vehicle and sees a way to get deeper gears to ruin the economy, just so I can have a little more acceleration.

Used to have a 67 Dart with a /6 and 3 on the tree. Also used to part cars and got ahold of a 70 340 Duster minus the engine and trans. The car was a repo and was a mess but the interior was good and it also had 3.91 gears in the 8 3/4....which all of that went into the Dart. With some tuning, straight pipe, flex fan, open element air cleaner and so on, the Dart really woke up. One cool thing that happened that I didn't expect was the mpg went up to 25 in town!!!

I like gears too and ordered a new 2000 Durago with 3.90 gears and a 92 V8 Dakota was done that way too. In normal driving the 92 got the same mpg as either of my V6 Dakotas I have now and was MUCH more fun! I tried one tank in the 92 with hard driving and it got 12 while I don't have to drive the V6's all that hard to get 12! Made a mistake selling the 92....

When I tow, it's for more than 100 miles, so an EV is a stupid choice. It doesn't even enter into consideration. The new ramcharger truck with on board charging could work, but not sure if that is still on the radar. You guys will know before I find out. EV for a local commute makes sense. It is NOT cheaper and it is NOT green at all, nada. Charging one is like having a commercial ac unit running the entire time it is plugged in. So not cheap, the way electric rates have been climbing, it'll cost more per mile than gas here soon.

Neither, this Maverick:

I wanted to have one modern car in the fleet that I can use as an appliance and not think about it if I go out of town. I also always wanted to play with the AWD turbo cars when they came out in the 90s but I was poor, so this fills both spots. But since I want the appliance aspect the only mod has been a tune and a sub woofer. I'm aware of the Ford reliability concerns, so just wish me luck!

We sit on one of the Largest deposits of Fossil fuels,, in the World, so lack of fuel in the future is a moot point. It's pretty clear EV's are just another way to Dumb down the users, as you just plug it in til it dies, and plug it in again, until the plugs ins don't work, or the vehicle fails. We'll stay with the gas guzzlers, as there is usually something you can try, to get them running. I have to add, my newest ride is my '05 Cummins, and I really have No intention of replacing that, at 89K miles. Still looking for a nice Southern/Western Jeep XJ that should be my last driver also...

I think the dumbing down is across the board for all platforms tho. Most non car people I know gas and repeat until its time to get a new car. They do not try anything on their own to make it run if it doesn't. We just aren't reg civilians in that sense.
