Leap Spring Clamp Relocation/Replacement

Got a problem with this style of spring clamp and tire clearance -

It's on the end of a leaf, so it's probably impossible to move it inside the rim.

Could it be replaced by one of these -

And where would I get that style of clamp? This style is readily available -

But when the tab is bent up, it's too close to the tire again. Maybe it's enough of an improvement that it isn't worth worrying about, unless there's something still better out there.
 
I would just clamp the springs further forward on the spring package
and not fuss with that position.
 
Yes, and the sheet metal style has a tab that locates in the hole of the end of the leaf. Use a Visegrip to fold the ends over and hammer them flat.

I don't think I've seen one with an extra tab yet, but the ones I've seen say not to make an abrupt fold like you describe, or they'll break. Can you link to the ones you use?

I don't think I've used one in 10 years but, I did many times and none broke. Note the fold on the pictured clamp.
