I've got a "brand X" vehicle with older leather seats which have begun to crack. One spot split & I know it will only get worse. Is there any way to repair the leather seat split? I'm ok with it not being an exact color match or visible when I'm done. Any ideas? THANKS!
A good upholstery should be able to repair the ripped panel. You should treat that leather to soften and preserve it.
Sweet Project Cars YT channel has lots of leather seat repair and restore videos. If you leave a comment for one of the videos you can ask him a question specifically for your issue and he'll get back to you very fast. He answered me in 24 hours.
If its a long and straight enough split, try the following. Get a piece of leather material that is close enough in color and cut a patch size out of it. Using leather glue, apply a layer of glue to color side of patch and insert patch under the split. Hold it all together till it holds.
I used to do Vinyl & leather repair back when I lived in Chi-town. Yes, the video is of vinyl, but sort of the same process is used on leather. It's a cold repair vs. a hot repair that you do with vinyl.
There used to be like 7 Dr. Vinyls in the Chicago area, appears no more.
