Manual brakes vs hydroboost

I don't know the specifics of "electrically boosted" but Vacuum pumps are nothing new. I have one in the red car and while it works, the noise of it can be annoying.

I never looked at the specifics past its a little motor under the MC that is known for going out if people are sloppy and spill fluid all over it when filling the MC. That alone has put me off the idea a bit, but I have to admit the brake feel is pretty good.
When you start the car you can hear it hum for a few secs as it builds pressure and then it stops, if you pump the brakes a bunch of times it kicks on again, which makes me think it builds pressure in reserve and would have a few power assisted stops in it after the motor or power to it failed.
If there is interest I can try to get some pics of the unit.

I have a 91 Cherokee Limited that had a Bendix electric boosted anti-lock brake system. It worked great, until there wasn't any electric assist. One part of the electric assist was known to fail and had been replaced a few times under warranty. When the electric assist would fail, it was very very hard to stop for the same reason Kern stated about the hydroboost. It had a pretty large bore master cylinder. I ended up removing all of it and just put regular vacuum boosted power brakes on without ABS so I never had to worry about it again.

I have manual with front KH discs in my 69 Dart. It's a 440 so the booster wouldn't fit. I've never had any issues with it. Stops good. I also have manual drums in my 65 Belvedere wagon. Will be converting to front discs in the future but I personally like manual brakes. I have a strong leg and I like the direct feel.

I got the proportioning valve dialed in a little better and cruised around to see how they would perform during normal driving. Now the GTX has the better stopping power than any vehicle I’ve ever driven. It has Mopar 11.75 front rotors with Wilwood 4 piston calipers and “sport” pads. Rears are stock 11” drums. The power assistance comes from a BAC supplied Hydratech adapter plate with a new Bosch hydro boost unit. BAC also supplied the necessary fittings and MC.

I used reproduction power brake hard lines to compensate for the master cylinder being relocated farther forward. They required minor modifications to fit nicely.

The high pressure lines are black Teflon lined braided hose and black fittings to blend in with the surroundings. The installation turned out nice and clean IMHO.
