manual shift valve body 727

i just bought a 440 with a 727 on it.
the po knew nothing about except it came in a project he bought.
my friend said he thought he saw the truck it was in a few yrs back and it was racing on the track.at the time he said it had a munual shift valve body in it.
can i somehow tell from the outside?

The absence of a throttle lever. Just the manual lever.

Yep. If there's no kickdown, its either a full manual valve body.......or ruined.,
