Mopar Proform (Denso I believe) mini starter install.

The housing seems to leave a void which is not loved but more importantly concerned over possible incorrect placement/install. Headers are new tti install hanging loose at the moment. Open to any and all thoughts.

Thanks much in advance. Will be calling Proform but closed until Monday.

4 speed 440

I am using MSD's mini starter and I modified a OEM dust shield to use but, I thought I would check with MSD about using a shield. I was told the unit was not designed to use any shield. So, I left it off.

I put a thin piece of cardboard up between starter and block to check clearance. I was able to fit a piece of corrugated cardboard in.

But that flange looks suspicious. Why doesn't it line up with the bell housing?

‘Cause the started is made for a different motor

My thoughts exactly. Feels like it seats properly otherwise.

Does say it fits A engines:
273/318/340/360

And

B/RB engines: 361/383/400/413/426/440

Could this possibly explain?

I read about this briefly but my understanding is the one offered by 440 source was for auto trans only. Haven’t found a manual trans one anywhere at this time. Shield would be nice.
I just installed the 440 source mini starter in my coronet, TF727 and it fits perfectly. I would suspect that the starter in question isn't designed for a manual gear box bell housing?

I use a factory 360 Dakota starter on my Savoy with a 4-speed with an 11" flywheel and a steel Ansen bellhousing.
