MPG

mpg as horrific as the emissions, but I have known that since forever.

66 Charger 387, 906 heads, .455 mopar cam, weiand intake, 68-69 Exhuast Manifolds H-pipe, 727 with 3:23 rear
Running MSD atomic
Honest 14.5mpg at about 60-65. AFR set to 15 I think.
When it was completely stock with the 500 CFM AFB I actually got almost 17 on one trip. (a long time ago...)
That .455 Mopar cam has a lot to do with it I think!

This was in 1969, 68 RT 440 Charger auto 3.23 gears got 18 mpg on a 600 mile trip all stock. Maybe the Sonoco 260 had something to do with it. Use the straight gas no 10% alcohol then check it

This is a great point. Alcohol has fewer BTUs than gasoline, so the ethanol blended fuels have less overall energy per gallon (about 30% less energy in ethanol than gasoline). Having said that, the actual difference in MPG should be fairly small. A 10% ethanol blend should theoretically reduce mileage by about 3%.
