Spent the afternoon in Tangier, Morocco and spent an hour haggling over the purchase of a carpet. The salesman would not price anything so it was up to me to make the offers. Walked out $200 USD poorer but had my souvenir carpet in exchange to show for it. Perhaps I could have gotten it for $20 USD but I'll never know. Enjoyed my visit anyway.

About 8 years ago I was helping my mother sell some of her miniature Dollhouse collectables. Among them were a few 1:12 scale Turkish rugs. I advertised them on our local auction site...and immediately had a flurry of bids. One person asked how much it would cost to ship the rug approx 800 miles to her address....when I replied with $1.80, she was blown away. Then she asked would be in a regular courier truck or removal van type of transport?
When I told her it would fit inside a regular sized envelope...the penny dropped. She actually thought she had won a genuine Full-sized Turkish rug for $22. Then followed a series of emails to cancel the sale, and re-advertise. It was quite clear in the advertisement the actual size....some people just don't read that well.

Here is the text from the original advert...
