My Tesla battery is dead. I'm locked out, and can't even sell the car! What can I do?????

See if this works, some good info on the operation of an EV is in a cold area. It starts off slow, but he brings in another guy to answer question then the good information is flowing.

Be nice of they would deal in facts instead of dreams and false save the world ideas.

The disadvantages of EV's will come out as more people buy them. Knowing that all those batteries are located underneath me should there ever be the remote possibility of an accident is a concern to me. First Responders are still learning how to deal with these things and I agree with the others here in that the infrastructure is not there yet unless you are on the interstate. Who wants to be looking for a charging station when you are taking a Sunday drive in the country and you realize you need to plug in somewhere. Until the range capability moves past 400 miles I would not be interested. I heard that the advertised range is in perfect conditions - warm climate. When those temps drop like they do in the Northeast during winter months the range is something less. The weights of these vehicles are of course heavier and that is becoming more of a concern for the existing multi-level parking garages in the city. When built these garages were not designed to carry those combined weight loads of multiple EV cars parked together. New garages will become more costly to build to accommodate the increase weight. My concern is that some states may ultimately apply a surcharge in the future to us enthusiasts on our classics because of their perceived contribution to pollution. I will suggest that with the 100 miles many of us put on our cars annually especially those garaged during winter months their contribution to pollution is negligible.

LoL High Voltage, Livewire, or flick of the switch?

Hope BC is a town in the hills, fairly mild temps but does get some snow in winter.

Imagine the frustration of waiting to charge in the cold while pondering the value of using the heater to keep you warm until you can move in to charge.
THEN, watch the battery charge drop faster than the amount of time you may have until your turn to charge. It is a race to the bottom.
It seems like being stuck in your house eating the last of your food when you don't know when you can expect the next crop to be ready to harvest and you haven't planted a single seed....yet.

Imagine sitting in that line waiting for a charge, thinking how great you are that you are saving the planet! LOL
