So I am trying and failing to find a " running when pulled" SB 727 w/ converter here in Maryland and noticed Carlisle is in a few weeks. Having never been ,I was wondering what the chances of finding one there for a few hundred bucks. Do I need tickets to browse the vendors? Any info would be great , my 74 Charger is slowly turning into the world's coolest toolbox / work bench and I need to remedy that situation pronto.

You just have to pay admission at the gate. If you find something heavy, there's a parts hauling service to help get it to your vehicle. Pretty much every yard within a block of the fairgrounds gets turned into an impromptu parking lot.

If you’ve never been, you have to check it out. It’s a spectacle.

$10 to park in someone’s backyard like stated and gate fee is $15.

Will you find a ‘good when pulled’ small block trans with converter for under $300? You’ll never know unless you go.

wear comfortable shoes and plan to do a lot of walking
bring H2O

your charger runs a longtail 727 which is the same as 70-s thru early mid 80s dodge pickup trucks...
these are Everywheres for sale.
craigslist or Facebook Marketplace and youll find one in a rotbox truck,
buy the whole mess yank the trans scrap the rest get your money back plus a transmission.
its a Win,i do this all the time.

if you really want a Hd unit,
then find a small 70-s-80-s rv dodge camper/the Van front end with the small back camper,
and take That transmission.
repeat scrap procedure, altho this one can be tricky because of the camper part.
hope this helps.

Such a short ride for you. Yes, admission is - I have no idea, I always had a swap space or a car in the show. I believe it's $15.-

Carlisle is an outstanding show and yes lots of vendors. It's worth the trip, and hopefully you can find what you are looking for

Admission is around $20/day, you can look it up.
A few years ago I picked up 2 small block 727s. One was “running when pulled” for $200, and the other was completely rebuilt for $700. Neither worked and both needed rebuilt.
There’s a good chance you’ll find one there, just assume they all need rebuilt.

No doubt it will change but right now the extended forecast is 85. I can handle that, it's the 95 that kills me. I defrost at 68!

Man a forecast in the low 80's would be fantastic! It always seems to be 94 and sunny as all hell there every year.

Carlisle is big so don't plan to show up at 9 and be done by noon !!

Online tickets are $12/day, $25 for the 3 days. Parking will run you about $10.. If you are planning to stay the weekend in a motel ... forget it, you're a year too late to find anything.

I get started shopping early to beat the heat. Afternoon is for the show field and relaxing in the shade.
I find a hotel room every year with in 15-20 minutes away.

I have a sister in Hagerstown. It's a good piece from Carlisle but I save the motel room and get to see sis so it's all good

It’s a nice drive from Hagerstown to. My daughter used to live there, (now in Baltimore).
Hotels in Carlisle book up a year early, but the way the highways are around there it doesn’t take long to get to another town with plenty of rooms available.
Plus, (if you take your car), I really enjoy the early morning drive to the show.

A couple of years ago, I got a late start on Saturday. It took maybe an hour and 15 minutes to get into Carlisle and about the same amount of time to get through town.

Thanks for all the info guys , I really appreciate it. I hope the wife and I can get out there this year , of course my main objective is the 727 although you make the endless walking ,crowds and heatstroke sound really fun
