Still have no oil pressure when priming. Is there a procedure. I pulled the oil pump and it seems fine. I kjnow my pick up tube is on. Does oil have to go through the crank to get up top. The next step is to buy a new pump
I like to open any new pump to check for rotor end clearance. I rebuilt a brand new rebuilt 340 because the pump only had .001" clearance and it seized up shearing the intermediate shaft. The engine continues to run but there's no blood being pumped....I filled mine full of STP before installing it just for this reason...
Cranky. I put some oil in the filter earlier but some of it pours out when installing it due to shoehorning it in there ( that did not work ). I did not yet try to crack the filter like wannadrag says but he might be on to something with that air locked thing. I always said this is a pickup priming issue because it moved so free. Well I could not wait- cracked the filter ran the drill and no pressure. looks like i will pack that pump tomorrow. Thanks.
