Hey all

I was wondering what are member's experiences will oversea buyers. I have had done interest from people abroad in buying my super bee, but am unsure about this, part of it fear of being scammed, the unknown, who knows what else.

Anyway, I would appreciate hearing people's experiences.

Hey Mike,
I sold my 62 Nova race car to a guy in Switzerland. Buyer had a friend of his come by, checked it out, gave him the OK, then did a money transfer to my bank, I delivered the car to Palm Beach FL and that was it.
My buddy live here part of the year and in Norway the other half, he buys at least one car here every year and ships them home.
I have no problem with Western European, Australian, New Zealand or Japan buyers, as they are real gearheads and there exists a huge classic american car cult over there, they are usually serious buyers, just do not send your car on any prepaid shipping deals, or any deals where they send you more money than is asked for and then want a refund of the overage.
I would be careful in dealing with Russian or any eastern block country unless you speak the language and can talk with them one on one and totally forget about any african deals or south american buyers.
Let me know if you need any more info.

I recently sent some convertible pieces to a member here who is overseas. He paid promptly and was easy to deal with. I shipped the parts to a body shop here in the States and they shipped out from there. I've also shipped parts to the Aussies without a hitch as well. As with any transaction in the lower 48, be very clear on what you are selling and dictate the payment method. A car however, is a whole 'nuther animal and I'm sure others will chime in with some caveats.

No experience but sad to see that iron leaving the US. I couldnt see myself selling my Coronet overseas and never seeing her again. I,m a romantic though.

jesus daredevil, way to hit me in the heart!

Here a 180 degree story from a overseas buyer...

I was looking for a 70's Satelitte, Roadrunner or GTX for a few years now. Then I found one through craigslist located in Florida and contacted the seller. I also knew a dutch exporter that lives in Florida and he could arrange transport. I was emailing with the seller a couple of times and he emailed me all the right info. Then when I decided to buy the car I wired the money to the dutch transporter and he received it a few days later.
He also mailed the seller a few times. Later on I decided that the car needed a few new wheels and because they are cheaper in the US then in the Netherlands, I asked the seller if he could arrange some new tires. He could and we agreed that I would wire the money directly to him through Paypal. Paypal had a function that showed the real name of the seller before you agree with wire.

That name was different with what the seller told me that his name was. So I googled that name and a lot of **** came over me. Things like, fraude, not getting the car that he showed the pictures from, or never getting the car, etc. I cancelled the buy and got the money back. If faced the seller with the fact that he had different names and ask for a picture of him with the car and copy of his ID. He wouldn't/couldn't give it. The dutch transporter was very patienced with me and helped me a lot. I believe the seller was a German guy.

Of course the mopar-virus is unable to get rid of... A year later I bought a 70's Satellite through a dealer also in Florida. A different dutch shipper arranged transport and I wired the money directly to the dealer. I did call directly with the dealer asking him for specific details and pcitures that he send me later on. Now I'm partly restoring the Satellite and replacing the bad sheetmetal.

My experience is that you must talk to the seller directly. If I buy a next mopar in the US I would want to see the car in person and speak with the owner. Another good reason to plan a vacation to the US in my opion...

I sold a 34 Ford to England and a 71 Satellite to Sweden. Both paid and had someone pick up the car. As with any transaction, be sure your happy with the funds before you release the product.
