"Please S T O P saying this" thread.

I do the "So, ..." thing, as well. Doesn't bother me, but I can see where it might bug others. So, I'll try to cut back on the "So,..." here.

I listen for quirks in conversation and try to avoid them.
I knew a guy that LOVED to say.....Let's put it this way when someone asked him a question. He said it a LOT.
Derrick, are you going to be on time for work tomorrow?
Let's put it this way....I'm going out drinking tonight.
**** you, jerkoff...your phrase is neither clever nor impressive. Just answer the question.
I find myself saying SO at the start of a sentence and am trying to stop that!
Another think I'm trying to break myself from....."I guess you could say". I use this when trying alternative words to explain a situation.
I don't like hearing myself say it.

Junk yard. Well, maybe for GM and Ford.:D

You don't put junk on your Mopar do you?

I'm ok with boneyard, but not junk yard.

Years ago, I started calling them a Wrecking yard. I refuse to go anymore PC than that.
Recycle yard? Piss off....
Pre-owned parts facility? Eat my crack!

People have been adding the word A S S to emphasize matters in sentences.
Some skank woman had a hit song "Wet *** Pu***" This sounds totally unappealing to me. *** Pu*** sounds like prison type action.
That is a fast *** race car.
I want some big *** speakers in my car.
You are a grown *** man.
Break it down in literal terms and it sounds even worse.
*** race car.
*** speakers.
*** man.
This is stupid, ignorant and low rent.

I keep seeing and hearing people say It is what it is.
This is another phrase of useless words that sounds dumb.
Often times, it is said in regards to a person, place or situation that is not ideal.
A guy wants a muscle car and every one he sees for sale is rusty and incomplete. He buys the best one he can find. The Wife is shocked at the poor condition and complains. He responds, It is what it is.

What phrase would you use to describe a circumstance that is simply a fact and must be accepted or dealt with as it exists?

“It’s not this and it’s not that; it’s something more subtle that I don’t have a name for, and I’m ok with that.”

(I didn't come up with that, someone else did from 'Psychology Today')

You mean like *** clown, one of your favorites. I'm just trying to keep up with your do's and don'ts.

The word "***" in itself isn't the problem for me.
Wet *** Pu**y though?
Big *** speakers? It is the adjective placed before the word *** that annoys me.
I'm not claiming that I am right about this, it is just an opinion.

I think it's the ebonics that annoys you

I like *** clown and low rent, both make it possible to explain someone without going into it any further. Maximum affect with fewer words!

Sayings are idioms that the brain throws in when you have a pause in your thoughts as a place holder.

Colloquialism or colloquial language is the linguistic style used for casual communication. It is the most common functional style of speech, the idiom normally employed in conversation and other informal contexts. Colloquialism is characterized by wide usage of interjections and other expressive devices; it makes use of non-specialist terminology, and has a rapidly changing lexicon. It can also be distinguished by its usage of formulations with incomplete logical and syntactic ordering
