Post your 12 second combos

Laying down at higher rpm, especially with a solid cam, is most often weak valve springs.
Used the recommended springs for the hydraulic and tested another set of springs as well. As for the current solid cam, I use the recommended springs for this cam also.
So I believe it's something else going on.
The dizzy is the only thing left that I can think of.
 
Changing the camshaft from a hydraulic comp cams xe284h to a hughes solid stl5054bs3-08,resulted in better et's.

Same track both runs and good traction.
Still feels slow after 5000rpm, thought this issue would be solved going to the solid cam, but it was not.
Next up is to swap the old mopar electronic dizzy for a msd pro billet. Hope this will fix the issue.

How about a guess. Mine is a all steel 63 Polara HT with no a/c or P/Brakes. It does have 318 bars, Calvert Split Leafs with Cal Tracs. 76 440 block, crank and rods, Balanced with Speed Pro 2355 flat tops, Isky 292 Mega cam, stock pushrods and rockers. 440 source CNC ported Stealths, Eddy RPm with a Holley 750 DP, MSD 6al box and Billet dist. Rounded off with Dougs D452 Coated headers and a 2.5 inch exhaust with crossover and Magnaflow open flow muffs. I did an Art Car 727 with billet internals, RMVB and a 3k 11 inch street converter. I believe it came with 3.23 gears in the open 8 3/4 and I mounted 275/60/15 Cooper Cobras. I think I'll get a high 7 in our local track. Irwindale usually had good evening air but its only 1/8 mile. Any guesses.

Well an 8.0 is around a 12.75.. so with your power I'd expect that very easily..
but with the 323 one wheel Cooper cobra... kinda hard to see that happen..

Use the Jedi force with the gas pedal.
Mph will be way more important in this scenario. (To me anyways,)
 
Yeah I should have added that either 3.91 or 3.73's are planned with a locker or Sure Grip.
 
With a 3.91 in my car , very similar build-64, it was in the 12.1 12.2 range . And there has been quite a few others on here with similar results. :thumbsup:
 
I use to race my bike there. Sometimes it was good and sometimes not so good. Nitrous Suzuki m109. 170 hp at the tire. Never could get the clutch to live.

I’ve had the GTX for almost 43 years and never had it on a track. Reading through this thread I believe it would run in the 12’s, any guesstimate on what it might run?

Full interior, about 3800lb with driver and a half tank of fuel

Hooker 1 7/8” Super Comps

What trw pistons, do you know what the deck height of the piston is, ie. at TDC how far down is the piston from the deck ?

TRW Six Pack (don’t remember the pn# off the top of my head) Zero deck height, heads were also machined to equalize the combustion chambers. FelPro head gaskets, .042 IIRC

Six pack piston has 4 valve reliefs IIRC, It should be able to crack into the 12's

I agree about the mph, but I would rephrase. Mph will be more indicative of what it CAN do, with a more drag oriented setup. Poor gearing and poor tires will make the E.T. poor, mph will tell you more about the actual power.

My experience with the same cam, 440+6bbl (modded and tweaked by Promax) 4.10 or previous 3.54 4 speed, now 5 speed, and similar "add ons" is low 13s with crappy 2+ second 60 ft times
BUT
That was before ALL the stuff (see novella signature) I added, BUT I haven't made it to the track.
SO frustrating, going on 1½ years!!
I'm even trying to make the time to go.
So, to answer your question, high 12s w/traction, low to mid 13s if you can't get your 60 ft times under 2 seconds, and MOST OF ALL you'll never know until you go!
