Hey all,

What's the difference between the RC air intake systems between a 383 and 440 B body car? Is it just the air cleaner height so it can seal up into the hood?

Thanks,
Mikey

Awesome. Thanks. Any idea how much difference in height?

Thanks, Hudson. So... if one wanted to swap a 383 to a 440 they would just need the correct air cleaner base, no?

Also, if one wanted to swap intake manifolds on either engine, they would need to make sure that manifold sits at the same level or lower (to make up with a spacer??), using the appropriate base. That sound about right?

Thanks,
Mikey

Yes, you would need the correct base for the engine chosen.

Any intake change will require measuring to ensure air cleaner fit

Base is the big thing

Glad this post came up. I’ve got a 383 that been running a Torker for quite some time now. In the early days the set up was close to hitting the bottom of the AG box but abut 15 years ago I used the K/N air filter in the Moparperformance catolog at the time and was lower than the Fram CA305 and never had an issue with the K/N yet for clearance. Shorter air filter with the Torker gave me no interference and thought I’d pass the info on for guys running non stock single plane intakes. Worth comparing the 2 heights ( OEM FRAM and A/M K and N

MWbird, are you talking aftermarket round air cleaners or the different filter elements inside of the OEM RC housings?

Thanks,
Mikey
