I don't get it....

Same "rare" MOPAR air cleaners on Ebay- great difference in prices and condition...

Am I missing something???

Given that they're both listed at the same time, what kind of logic is Seller #1 using?

A sucker born every minute?

Seller #1. This air cleaner only has the top with pinhole damage, NO bottom plate:
(Beginning bid $800 or Buy It Now $1040 + $55 shipping)

Seller #2. Same air cleaner, no damage, INCLUDES bottom plate
($625 Buy It Now, OBO. plus $55 shipping

Like I told one guy who really wanted my not to common part but unwilling to pay my reasonable price. "Have you even seen one of these today or even in the past several swap meets to have been to?" Just keep looking Danny one will show up.

I think I have one of those kicking around in my garage...
Going to Indy tomorrow.

I see all the time BIN listings or starting bid amounts that are crazy high, while a simple search for the same item brings up dozens for much, MUCH less.

I always ask myself "who the F buys the one for $349 when 5 seconds of typing reveals 10 more listed at $120".

Was it PT Barnum that said "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of consumers at large"?

since I sold a tube out of one of my radios for $1,400, I don't try to figure prices. I just accept that I am ignorant.

A relatively recent trend is people listing a BIN "or best offer" and expecting an offer above the BIN price.

Seriously?

WTF?

Or a "...or best offer" listing where the seller won't take $5 less than the BIN price on a $50 item.

What's the point?

Folks don’t realize there are a few different air cleaners that appear the same until you look for the details.

@Danny Boy the first one does have the correct base for the small AFB top. See second photo. I don’t understand the use of JB weld, you ever tried to sand a to a feather edge with that junk?

The second one has a large carb hole baseplate.

ebay auctions listings are free and the fees to sell went up, so sellers are always raising prices.

This one here is not a GTX air cleaner,
Look at the details.

While I don't condone these two actions and their high prices, my personal thoughts are that the only way to get a reasonable price on Ebay is to list the item as BIN/make an offer. The whole "auction" concept is out the window. Ebay's policies and rates are partly to blame but apps like "Auction Sniper" and people waiting till the last second to bid also have a great impact. Gone are the days of listing something with a $1 starting price and having a bidding frenzy for the seven day period. Nowadays I'll list something with a starting price pretty close to what I hope to get and I keep an eye on the number of "watchers". If five days go by and I only have a couple watchers I shut the auction down, I'm not going to settle for a low bid placed in the last minute. Yes, I realize its all part of the game but I'm not playing it. For close to twenty years I've been saying that Ebay should be extending any auction that has a bid within the last few minutes - this would put a real damper on the "Auction Sniper"s and be a huge benefit to the seller - who happens to be THE Ebay customer, not the buyer.

Lots of suckers out there but it will likely still be for sale next year at this time. Once in a while i find some good deals on ebay but a lot of sellers are dreaming or waiting for a sucker. What makes is worse are people who have something to sell and base their selling price off overpriced **** they see on ebay. First thing they say is "ebay sells them for this much!"

Ebay needs a "selling fee" scale. Having to pay the same % for everything is ridiculous. They do nothing more for an item that sells for $10k than they do for an item that sells for $1.

If you need one? And it's not reproduced? Then you are at the mercy of the seller.
I bought my dual snorkel for my 69 charger R/T on ebay for less than $100 and thought I paid way too much. In hindsight, I should have bought several! Or, If you are handy with Sheetmetal? You can buy two single snorkels and convert one into a dual. Like I did to my 78 magnum. Magnums and cordobas didn't come with one, so I made my own.20210730_152425.jpg

Bought this one off Ebay for $150. Guy added another snorkel to a trapdoor air cleaner. Is it correct, heck no but it works and looks like a stock dual snorkel with the lid on it.

When I first started using EBay, the prices seemed very reasonable. It also made a place to find parts that seemed impossible to find. That was early Ebay. Now people think if its old, its gold.

You have an echo... echo...echo...

Those have been delisted a few times. The one for $650 was first listed at $500 BIN. No sale. I mean, if it doesn’t sell why not raise the price, right?:realcrazy:
