The Power Brake Booster in my 73 is leaking and won't hold the brakes and I saw on Rockauto.com they have a PB Booster rebuild service. Anyone ever use them to rebuild their PB booster?

I like to lurk, and I use this board primarily for technical answers. Put my RR away for the winter and I started doing some work on it.

Thanks for all the advice, but I guess no one has ever used Rockautos booster rebuild service.

        I'll look into Booster Dewey

I bet if you did a survey here, you'd probably find that 90% of the board doesn't even know about it!

Have you checked to see if it's just the grommet or check valve bad? Sometimes the plastic develops very small cracks. I assume you already checked the hose.

Prior Automotive in Dallas appears to not have a webpage. They have three reviews on Google. They might be great - RockAuto decided to contract with them, tying to their reputation.

Thanks for the advice, I pulled the master cylinder off and it definitely needed replacing the bottom was filled with sludge and it was leaking out the back where it connects to the booster.

Is there any way to test a booster to make sure its working properly.

Its in winter storage and I needed to replace the MC and I suspect with all the sludge I found in it I will need to flush all the brake lines and I figure I will be rebuilding the calipers while its out of circulation.

You'd need a friend in the HVAC trade with a vacuum pump, or similar source if you don't want to start the engine. Regulate it as a source to 14" Hg or so. The booster check valve is good if you get about 1 and 1/2 power pumps with the source turned off, i.e. vac pump or engine shut off after building vacuum. A leaky master cylinder can take out a booster for sure.
