Speaking of Smoking the Tires...

If the car is a real performance oriented car
it should hook not smoke the tires, if you want to be technical
standing start or foot/power brake or dumping the clutch...
Traction is the name of the game,
unless you're heating the tires up...

many real race cars & even some newer cars
come equipped with line locks, that's not cheating either

I personally like the rolling burnouts,
goose it, let it rip, like P/S, T/F, F/C, Altered, etc.
I don't begrudge anyone doing a power stand either...
Both have there place, both are cool too...

Neither is cheating, both are burnouts/smoking the tires...

it's mostly about ego ****
unless it's for a run down the track anyway

IMO the power stand for a street driven car
is a safer form of showing off, than the rolling burnout
way too many low-performance drivers in Hi-performance cars

You know, burning tires is a lot like making love, it's gonna be fun no matter how you do it, and you will likely have to replace the rubber after your done!

Yep if it makes you happy, that's what counts...

both require replacing the "rubber" after you're done too !!!

My grandfather burned rubber all the time in his 57 Plymouth. Because he couldn't hear.

Used to have a 65 Mord Fustang Basfact with a 289 Motoattic. It wouldn't do a burnout unless I hit the brake right after stabbing the throttle. The car would move and the brake would pitch the nose down and the arse end up which would then let it break the tires loose. Then it did a pretty neat smoke show so long as the car sat static. As long as you put on a good show, what difference does it make how you waste the hides!!?

After football practice one afternoon we picked up the ***-end of a buddies dad's 6-cyl Falcon on a hill so he could light up the one tire. Awesome at the time!!

Poly- what the heck does blue smoke come from? The grandkids would love it!!

the japs( toyo I think ) make special tyres ( for drifting ) that make red / white / blue /yellow smoke when you light them up

Can you say japs anymore in this PC climate? Lol

I can do it any which way. Those tires are $300 EACH!

There are some cases like the Burn Out Contest at the Nats where you have to use brakes (see photo to left). LOL But I agree a no brake burn out is much more impressive.
