E-Z Rest Door Hanger model# 21870
The E-Z Rest Door Hanger enables a single person to quickly remove and/or install vehicle doors. The padded, removable side rails allow for accurate positioning of the door. The easy on/off design quickly adapts to most floor jacks with removable sides.
Reduces labor time.
Padded, removable side rails.
Easy on/off design and fully adjustable.
Quickly adapts to most floor jacks with removable saddles.
Hang bumpers, store glass, many other uses.
Fits jacks with saddle hole dimensions of 1.17"-1.19" (30mm).
Cost is about $65-$80 including shipping at Amazon.
Pros: Easy to use by one person to remove/install car doors. Padded to protect paint. Nice powder coated sturdy steel construction. Tilt feature to help align under the door.
Cons: Price. Cost including the jack was about $110 for a tool I will probably use once or twice.
I bought this to replace the worn top door hinge pins and replace the lower hinge on the driver side. To use the door tool you need a jack with a removable saddle (the part that touches the car), as stated in their description. My big floor jack has a removable saddle but underneath there is a cross pin for support that cannot be removed. I noticed this on most of the bigger floor jacks in the stores.
So, I used the Torin model# T82360 floor jack I bought from Northern Tool for $30. The saddle is secured in the hole by a cotter pin. However, I had to modify the jack by drilling out the hole to allow the bolt to pass through.
The tool was easy to use; just bolt the door tool on the jack and position it under the door before loosening the hinges. Then, roll the door away from the car. To install the door, reverse the process.
I recommend the EZ Rest Door Hanger if you're like me and work on your car yourself.
