The Dorks have gone next level!

This one had skinnies on the front of it with fatties on the back. Handled like s**t. Cragars are gone, hub caps and back to stock stance.

Bob Miller ran Baby Blue with matching tires for handling, and kept the wheel covers for the sleeper look. He carried it a step further, replacing the 440 hood call outs with a blank set his dad made from scratch in the machine shop where he worked. When I bought the car from Bob in 1983, I kept the wheels and tires in place for three years, but went back to the "440" strips in the hood.

A Hemi orange shaker hood equipped 71 HemiCuda with Hemi billboard stripes and dork dish hubcaps isn't going to pull off the sleeper look to well.

I could use a lot of help,no one does my body and paint,no one does my seats,no one installs my glass,I do it all myself. I post pictures constantly on here blasting and painting parts, building grilles and dashboards, doing seats etc. I work 60 hour weeks and still get something done every week. I do alright for an old working guy.

Like me, others here know their abilities and and of course we all respect what you can do. I think everyone here knows you don’t like hubcaps, just give it a rest.

when I was a kid, "Dennis" had one ear stick out further than the other one.......... middle of summer he got a hair cut leaving a tan line across his forehead and exposing the ear......... his brothers were calling him "big ear, white wall".......kids can be cruel

It's all about image, the same reason the 64 GTO gets called the first muscle car. We all know Dodge and Plymouth had GMs formula a full three years before the GTO existed. THE 62 to 64 Max Wedge cars were the mid sized car with the largest engine in them. The Max Wedge cars would stomp a mudhole in any GTO ever built, and Fuel Injected Stingrays too,but the GTO gets the street cred because of image, It took Chrylser until the late sixties to catch up and surpass the GM muscle cars image. Now we are going backwards.

Kinda like when you nit pick stupid stuff on cars , like decal placement ? We get it , you think your cars are perfect , give it a rest

Other than Donk wheels, or these guys who install their wheels and tires on their pickups with spacers so they stick a foot outside the bodysides, nothing much bothers me in what people chose for wheels and tires on their rides.
I’ll just worry about what pleases me most to use on my rides.
Thankfully that is one of the easiest things to change if you buy a car from someone whose tastes and standards aren’t aligned with yours! Not a big project, just pull out the credit card!

Words of wisdom. Of my seven GTXs, only two avoided wheel changes. One because it never made it out of body shop jail before being sold, and the numbers matching Hemi, with original style wheels and caps. On all the others, I did changes, some back to original factory style road wheels, others to Magnums with wider widths than factory.

My first GTX was a factory road wheel car. Seller had changed it out to 1964-65 era Hurst mags, that had previously graced his Plymouth Sport Fury. I put the factory wheels back on the car, and sold the Hursts for $50 to a guy with a Ford Pinto, after some serious nagging by my wife to "get rid of my excess junk." I sold the GTX shortly after, for $1800. When I saw a set of identical Hursts for sale on Ebay years later for $3500, I was slightly ill, and of course there are many of us who wish we'd kept the car instead of pocketing what seemed good money at the time.

I do, when someone asks for opinion on a car that that they are looking at purchasing or want to know what’s factory correct. You don’t see me starting any threads or constantly yammering on mocking aftermarket equipment on other people’s cars do you?

What about the hacking on the 70 bees?? Sometimes an internal muffler can be a good thing

I have always gone by the mantra
don't ever build by committee, or consensus,
then the only people it makes happy, is that committee

build it how you like it, drive it like you stole it,
use what ever parts you deem necessary, you do you
have fun & who f-en' cares what others think

if dork dish's are your deal, blows your skirt up, then go for it
(I personally I don't care for them, but some cars it's OK)

if white walls are your deal go for it
(I personally I don't care for them but not my car, some cars it looks right)

if Polished Halibrand Slots, or chrome Road wheels, or Cragers & wider tires,
or bigger wheels/tire are your deal, then go for it
(I always liked Day 2 style better, It was how I was raised, how I lived,
I do what I like, I couldn't really care any less if someone doesn't like
my choice of wheels, hubcaps or whitewalls, WTF ever)

I don't tell people what they can or can't do,
I give just my honest opinion of what I like or dislike, on the subject matter at hand
it's a lot of time asked for opinions, How does this look ? then you can take it or leave it,
don't need to take that stuff personally...

It's just someone's personal preferences, like colors
(I personally, don't like Red car or red interiors or piss (light) Yellow cars
& I've had several of both/all, just my likes & dislikes, to each their own)

opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one

it was mostly 'all in fun', the way it started out here

my $1.25
