Aluminum scoop support tube with inner aluminum partial threaded stud and nuts. Big aluminum washers (not seen) make for good spread of the load and clamping.

well i have a couple 63 mw scoops both are fiber glass , not sure what i'll run . would like to make a corbin fiber one and make it taller and maybe longer so its more effective on grabbing fresh air . its set to far back to grab the air coming over the nose of the hood .

@POMONAMISSEL, do you, remember what the magnesium 15x10s weighed?
I have a pair of 60s vintage cast aluminum Ansen 15x8 1/2 tt clones that weigh 22 1/2 lbs! I bet the real mag 15x10s were around 15. Maybe less.

They do make some outlaw MW scoops that are taller but not sure how they mount. Bolt on or mold on.
That's why the '65 AFX Hemi scoop (like the one below) was attractive because it was taller then the production A-864 and A-990 scoops.

Replaced the bench seat with Kirkeys. Had to be a pretty good loss. Haven’t had time to scale it.

My old 65 Plymouth that was all steel weighed in with me in it at 3340 lbs but no hood and a 3 1/5 gal moon tank .

As far as a front bench seat they can weigh anywhere between 80-100 Lbs depending on models. Solid back bench being a little on the lighter side. Split tilt down bench like those found in '65 two door posts cars with all belts and mounting hardware weigh exactly 100 Lbs.
A pair of A-100 low back van seats like the ones in the A-864 and A-990 Hemi cars with aluminum brackets and mounting hardware weighed 44-1/2 Lbs total.

Any ideas on what a rear seat bottom and upper sections weigh?

In my case nothing cause it's gone. But I bet got to be 40+ plus.

Thanks to my hand written log over the years which is extensive to say the least, I vividly remember certain items and their facts. 56 Lbs for the rear seat. I went down to have a look for safe measure and as I suspected, the rear two part seat weighed exactly 56 lbs. Funny enough, when you pick it up all in one piece, it seems to weigh more like 30 Lbs.

How about a early B body bucket seat?
I wouldn't have that info on bucket seats since it wasn't part of the diet, but I would bet my bottom dollar that one bucket could weigh 45 Lbs alone. Sometimes depending on options, materials and such, you would be surprised how close a bench seat would come to a pair of buckets. Pair of buckets equals four tracks and brackets, bench seat equals two and probably lighter material.

As the conversation trickles down from the hood, a good amount of the bolts and nuts changed to aluminum and or Titanium within reason. It's surprising how much bolts, washers, screws and nuts can amount to. Within reason is said because certain original factory bolts should not be replaced with lighter material. The studs in the image below are steel, but the lock nuts and washers are aluminum or titanium. The backing plate is aluminum.
Titanium and aluminum come in various tempered grades which the military still plays with to this day. People have to be aware of those various grades and tensile strengths. I suspect the gents in the Formula 1 and Midget garages have a higher hand on this stuff.

ProCar/Scat buckets are relatively light (for street/strip duty)
including the adjuster rails
($750-ish for both seats & brackets in 2007 $$s, more now)

Elite 1100
I liked the low profile & the best widths, for me

Pro Car-Scat Elite 1100 #51 dimensions sketch.gif

Lowback 1400
I wanted to go with these, but sat too high up
& a bit narrower, no real bolsters either
They're a lot like an A-100 style seat
or a VW seat (IIRC is what they were patterned after)
I suspect the weight savings was, the lack of adj. headrests
Pro Car-Scat Pro 90 Lowback 1400 #51 dimensions sketch.gif

Rally 1000
they look the best, but a lot of bolster on the sides
& still too high for my taste (or torso)
I guess I could have damn near mounted them
almost on the floor, made/modified some custom brackets

Pro Car-Scat Rally 1000 #51 dimensions sketch.gif

their mounting brackets are a lil' heavy for what they are
9#s each IIRC (my car has the Elite 1100, leather)

drivers side 9#s shipped/including hardware

pass. side 9#s including hardware
Pro Car Seat Adapdter Brackets Passenger side SCA-81343 $77.95 Dodge Plymouth.jpg

I liked the Elites 1100 best of the 3
I have a taller torso & it gives me way better headroom
didn't have to fab up any special mounts
& keeps me in the seat way better with the nice-sized bolsters
(not too big, 3 bears approach, just right)
than any factory seat ever could/did

My 1968 RR
mine was a Decore Inter. all Black, 1968 only had benches
with the 3 belts, bench seat, tracks etc. 'all factory perfect in shape'
so it weighed in at 113#s
it was 132#s 'shipping weight',
19#s was 1x1" frame, belts, cardboard & tape

I ended up selling to a FBBO member here in Calif.
he came & picked the bench up for $250, he got a real steal
to ship it was going to be like $300 alone :realcrazy: 10+ years ago

I'm at like 2/3s of that org. weight & only 2 belts now
2 seats & 2 brackets @ 78#s combined + the 2 belts
(belts vary vastly depending on what style & how many points harness)
I like the feel & seating position,
adj. headrests & adjust. seat backs are a plus too
not a real racing seat, but depends on what you're doing
it could be easily adapted to be
(some day I may even have them covered in a closer pattern to stock)
for now it's fine

Pro Car-Scat Elite 1100 #51.jpg

I liked the low backs style, but I also wanted headrests

Pro Car-Scat Pro 90 Lowback 1400 #51.jpg

These have adjust. headrests too
I wish the pattern was closer to the org.
perpendicular (like the 68s were) instead of up & down

I think DVW here has one over on me on the seats besides his ET and MPH. LOL. His A-100 seats with brackets come in at 20 Lbs or so each. Mine are 22 Lbs. Gotta find a way to shave 4 Lbs. LOL.

Mine actually Magnesium Honda frames. No springs, foam only. The brackets holding the backs to the bottom and the floor brackets are homemade 1/4 Aluminum. I should have put holes in them.

I think the work of art here is not the item itself, but its first impression to the naked eye. Call it off-site experimental, abstract art or the art of deception. Who would think these seats weigh less than 25 Lbs each? Only the Shadow knows.
