TKO 500 Install - 1966 Coronet - SST Kit

ehhh.....the bends and such out from the base of the exhaust manifold were tailored to a 727 and also the ends on the inlet side of the mufflers are angled inward towards the driveshaft...too many factors to correct.

gonna order a universal 2.25” steel/aluminized kit off summit and make a new exhaust system

im going for the worlds longest 727-to-tko500 conversion record

ordered 2.25 universal exhaust kit in aluminized steel from Summit, 2.25 Summit H-pipe kit, and 2.25 inlet/outlet Flowmaster FlowFX mufflers.

i hope to get it all in and running by the 27th............................................................................................................................................................of September

whats been nice about not having anything to do next is that i’ve be able to focus on the noisiest part of the 66 - the center console. this thing is louder than the Flowmaster setup.

still had some leftover ThermoTec Thermo Gaurd FR roll so i layed a few extra layers in the rattle box. the SST kit really makes it look like the 1966 was born with the TKO500.

the flip top section needs adjusting but i think that will be easier than building the exhaust or sliding in the TKO500

all i can do is wait for the new stuff to come in. i will lay down some black tape over the shiny area under the foot pedal area...i don’t need distractions when im rowing through the gears......heck.....the only other stick shift ive driven was a 96 Honda Civic back in 96

Dang man...Now I'm getting more anxious to do this to my car.

put your stimuli check to work for all of us and get a fresh quote from SST. sit on it for a few hours or a day and call them up and say “if I buy this right now will you toss in free shipping on top of the 8/31 $250-off promo you’re running?”

it only adds up to about $500 off. you can always pay full price and send me the $500 if you’re feeling generous

do not mention Watermelon sent you cause im giving the weekend-swap a bad name

got till Monday

cut up old exhaust and keeping it handy just in case

used a HF Bauer Bandsaw and their 18tpi blade. cut it like butter and left clean smooth faces

going to have to keep exhaust dumping out before the axle due to the Hotchkis rear sway setup; it takes space between gas tank and rear frame rail area

just cutting and tack welding away for now

Yes - watermelon endorsed - the Bauer with the HF 18tpi blades. Set on number 7; use your own Allen key to lock in the guide. Cut a few scrap pieces first to get the feel then go to town.

take a screenshot of the coupon and head there tomorrow
