The posts here make no sense to me. Finally figured out there must be someone posting who I have on ignore. SFSI maybe?
Nope. It's not that because I don't have anybody on IGNORE.

I guess I lost the train of thought then. I'm lost. Yeah, the MSN is all Leftist , all of the time. So the results make sense..

I really try to like everyone, I really do....but when someone is so obviously wanting to contradict and cause conflict for whatever their reasons, you get tired of the futility of the effort, eh?
Yeah, I'm there with ya now...ignored and done with it.
Spare me your drama queen bullshit and if you have some comment about me, be a big enough person to direct it to me.
All of this because I was teasing about pizza and bagels.
You reflect so many here, whose lives revolve around a us versus them attitude.
Then there is another member, a person I considered a friend.
Pity so many of you expect your *** kissed and when faced with a alternate opinion, resort to the usual internet nonsense instead of settling your differences and moving on.
Heres a clue, im glad you all live were you do, as you'd never make it here.
Health and happiness in the New year, time to move on

You want to compare Pizza and Bagels from NYC to Texas? LOL....Hey you do have great barbecue, so im told
If you stay away from the chain stores, sure, you can find just about any kind of food here that will satisfy your taste buds. Only difference is that you can find what you like IN the city up there but in Texas, you got to drive somewhere else besides Houston to find it. And good BBQ....yeah, we have that too but you can find great BBQ all over the nation. It might not taste exactly like Killen's in Pearland or Cattle Drive in Deer Park (yeah, we have a DP in Texas too) but both places will have you wanting more but ya know, I've never had bad BBQ around here. There's also an Italian restaurant in Deer Park that serves pretty dang good pizza and is just a blue collar town right next to a bunch of refineries and chem plants. Go figure. We can talk about seafood too. The only thing I miss from up there (Cape Cod) are the fried clams but fried oysters are a close second so long as they are done right.

Sea food from the Gulf, most be great. My point in the other posts before a couple started with their usual butt hurt bullshit was different parts of the country are known for different foods and they are better or not so better.
A case in point was bagels, but not just bagels but all breads. The water in NYC is one of the best in the nation. We have the best bar none water system and that water is the key.
When I leave NY, even going to South Jersey, the difference is obvious. Now when I traveled to Denver, I was amazed as the breads tasted like home, again it was the water.
Pizza is the dough and how its made. Assuming they use fresh products it should be good.
One of the good things (and yes there are some) is foods. The quality and prices. The competition is large, thus there are real bargains.
The newspapers on Thursday list all the sales and if your willing to do do some shopping you can save a bundle.
Ive had people from way out of. state be amazed at the prices of foods.
I was recently in Brooklyn and passed a fruit and vegetable store. There must be thousands in Brooklyn alone. This particular stand went block to block with everything out front.

Sure would be nice if y'all quit throwing jabs at each other!

Houston has lots of farmer's markets with just about anything you want and the some but there's nothing within a 30 minute drive of me anymore. Don't know why. Maybe all the ones that had large gardens are all too old now to mess with it or are gone. My dad even had a pretty nice garden but quit growing when he got older. I've had them in the past too but they are a lot of work and besides, I'm by myself now. The only thing I had last year was Okra in big pots as I like to eat the young sprouts off the stalk. Kinda hard to grow tomatoes with all the freakin mocking birds. Kids didn't want to eat any of the 'good' stuff anyways and would rather get something from Taco Hell.

I have to give you this one Steve, the New York bread is worldwide known as one of the best in the world, as long for bbq, Texas is one of the best places on the world for that matter.

I love this country and have more money than I will ever need living the the life style I live. All those countries offer many great benefits, but, I made it here and I will spend it here. It's not perfect, but God bless America!!

Every state has something to offer and no one state is perfect. In the midwest we have the the flats, hillsides, rivers and lakes and the weather isn't bad having all four seasons. We can't see the sunset on the ocean, but none of us have been bitten by a shark either. As far as foods, get serious, we have it all. I can find anything I want here and more as long as you know where to look. It's all good, everywhere in this country, no need for a dick measuring contest to prove something that is an opinion more then a fact. We live where we do in this country because we can!!

I'm starting to be sorry that I started this thread. I only meant to highlight where a survey says are good places to retire.
I didn't write the survey nor do I agree with it. I didn't mean to start a cat fight.

Don't be sorry!! You didn't do anything but mention what we see and read everyday. Opinions are like ********, everyone has one and they all stink!! Just my opinion...LOL

Ghost you can't stop people from being who they are. Some people are more combative than others. Don't worry and enjoy the fun fun fun.

Yes sir. Apologies. I'm done. Ignored the problem for good.

Nonsense. Poppycock even. :)
Cool thing is, there's something to like about anywhere in these good ol' states I'd like to think.
Even though I'm not in the SW, I love me some "tex mex" (when my well-ventilated gullet allows
me to, anyways) for example. There's places that do it well in this region.
LOVE me some NY style pizza and places have it here as good as any I've had up north.
The "fat pizza" from Chicago has its' place (love a good deep dish pan pizza!).
Pennsylvania (especially Dutch country) has some of the best food I've ever gotten my hands on, too.
NC barbecue? Get outta here, it's FANTASTIC when done properly - but so is Texas bbq.
I could go on and on....
Climate would be the big limiting factor for me on where to live, political as well as meteorological.
The older I get, the less tolerance I have for cold, simply put - and a lot of those countries on the list
get DAMN cold from what I've read.

there's always 1 asshole that has to ruin it, for everyone

:drama: you're forgiven :luvplace:
you didn't do anything wrong either

anywhere not near an inner-shitty

I for one have enjoyed reading all the banter here on this thread. I haven't bothered to contribute with my thoughts....mainly because I live in one of the countries listed, and besides, our food is way better than anywhere else. :p

We have a recent chain of "Authentic New York Pizza" stores here now...Sal's NY pizza. My kids think it's great...but I cannot stand it...and it's over-priced. https://www.sals.co.nz/

We have GRASS fed cattle & sheep and fresh seafood from all around our coastline....no need to go hungry, or look for outside influences.

:poke:

I like to travel, but home is where I prefer to be. I'm sure that is what most you others feel also. :)
