Vintage garage stuff

I came across a pretty heavy duty shelf today for 10 bucks. There was some advertising on the side that indicated it was for A1 sauce. I cut two by fours to elevate the cans in the back.

I remembered I had this Valvoline decal sitting around. I put the decal on a piece of poster board and screwed it on the back.

I somewhat figured out the wiring for the fluorescent display chronometer. There are still two wires that I don’t know the purpose of. I wonder if one dims the display a little when you turn your headlights on. As for the fifth wire, I am at a loss. It wasn’t very important, so I gave up on trying to find a wiring diagram for a car that would’ve had one of those clocks in it.

Following are the wiring connections for the wiring for the vacuum fluorescent display chronometer, FYI:
  • Yellow with black tracer: To the head light switch dimmer - Controls intensity of the display with dash/interior lights.
  • Black: To ground.
  • Dark blue: To +12V switched, ie. ignition run or "Accessory" - Turns display on/off with key on/off.
  • Red: +12V constant on - Retains time memory.
  • Orange: To light circuit - Signals chronometer to dim for night/dark when lights are on.

I know that the pamphlet with sheriff JW Higgins on it isn’t for Dodge, but he uses the same warning.
Y’all drive careful now, heah…!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a can that says it can be used as gasoline line deicer or windshield washer solvent

A couple more estate sale finds. The picture is of the Dodge Hamtramck assembly plant. I am going to try using a magnifying glass to try and date some of the cars in the parking lot. If you look closely at the bottom of the sunvisor mirror, you will see the Plymouth logo.

Digging around in a barn we’ve owned since 1947, I uncovered these, don’t have any idea where they came from… I’ll have to see how well they shine up.
