Vinyl Top Install Question

The two seams are there, just difficult to see with the lighting. The top was obtained from Legendary. I'll check back in, in a couple years with y'all.

OK, thanks. I just did not see them in the photo. Maybe i should switch to my stronger pair of reading glasses. Good luck and enjoy your car.

Does the vinyl goes under the drip rail mouldings and clams under it?
Is there different drip rail mouldings on a vinyl top car than on a car without vinyl top?

Swede...Wish I had a pic for you, but the factory Vinyl does get covered by the trim. Trim is different between the two. I remember one of them has a greenish tint on the backside (I believe the Vinyl Top trim). Probably for the assembly line guys to differentiate between the two. My '69 parts manual also shows different part numbers; for the side drip rail as well as the A-Pillar trim.

Here's an article that may help you. Where they have the vinyl glued on the side of the drip rail is identical to where my roadrunner and an old Dart I had was from the factory.

All you had to do was go over there and sand and wire brush it down to bare metal yourself and then treat it before they did anything. Lame. You may not have the skills to do the whole job, but a chimp can use sandpaper and a wire brush. Lame. All you did was make a problem for somebody else later on down the road when the car has a new owner. Lame. It could have been a really good job with absolutely minimal effort on your part and we all told you about it ahead of time. Lame. That's a solid looking car. Lame It deserved better than what you gave it. Lame.

Lame? Actually, RustyRatRod this was your quote before I started: "Just paint on a faux vinyl top"

I'm sorry, was THAT the "correct" approach I should have taken?

Why so angry? I asked for opinions people gave them, and I decided to do things a certain way.

Of all the things to scream bloody murder, this is not one of them. Ok, Yosemite Sam? lol.

It seems people are very emotional around here when it comes to the proper treatment of our cars. They are like members of the family to a lot of us and we don't like to see others "abuse" their kids unnecessarily, especially when their cars are so nice to begin with. It is like watching people burn money. That being said we still need to be civil and respectful of other peoples knowledge, finances, abilities and wishes. We Mopar guys need to stick together, expecially since there just aren't that many of us around as compared to the bowties, fomocos and imports. They are the only lame people in my book.
Peace brother. :headbang:

Just came across this. Let's see the top 5 years later. I'm curious!! I am in need of a vinyl top replacement too.

I am in the process of putting on a vinyl top on my 68 Satellite that did not have one from the factory. I am learning , not as simple as you may think.
I understand about budgets, but it is a shame this person didn't do a little more prep work..................................MO
