What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

A while back Costco had them marked down to $169 (if I remember right.) I was sorely tempted.
But I'm really opening the doors once a week on average, so I passed. (Would have needed two).
I have an old Genie screw opener that's probably 30+ years old. Thinking why it might have lasted so long is that I opened that 16' door by hand most of it's life. The X always used the opener of course but if I was in the shop, I did it manually. She usually knew if I was in the shop or not (except for the winter time) so she usually parked outside to let the car cool off and then I moved it in later. The torsion springs have been replaced on the front overhead once and I did the back door (10' door) myself once I watched how the front door was done. The front door now needs new cables (one side) and doubt I'll do that myself. I keep a good eye on things and only open the front until the bad part of the cable is about to go over the reel.

Like I said.. 28 years on my belt drive. My side always freezes down from snow melting off my truck and being the far corner. Wife's side never does. 75 bucks to fix my stripped driven gear. If I could have bought new for $169 I would have bought 7 for all the car doors.. lol

The bear that messed with my wife knocked my cable off pulley on a tree 12ft up. I dis connected the pulley on the other with rope on so I pull it up to my deck 10ft up. I don't climb ladders but getting pulley on the down is "easy". The 2" black pipe has 2 bolts holding it to the tree. One 4' off the ground other 7' up. Loosen the lower one tried the upper one nope. Send kid for a longer ratchet, OK came loose backed bolt out 2/4". Remove lower bolt to let top of pipe is swing down nope tree grew inside pipe some. Send kid for a pry bar. Pried it away from tree swung pipe down put cable on pulley. The rest of job went smooth.
The reason it's a project my neuropathy makes walking on a lawn an adventure even with a walker.

I adjusted the spring tension on one of my old school sheet metal section shop complex doors.

I've watched the repair guy do it several times.

It IS a bit intimidating.

Better have rods the exact right diameter.....and long enough.

It's Mopar Day at Lancaster Speedway, just East of Buffalo, NY today, if your club is looking for a gathering, and you're not to far away ? Starts around 11am, and runs til the racing ends. Car show all day....
WNY MOPARS had a pretty good turn out, but with the threat of late afternoon showers, it kept some folks away. Some Very Nice Rare Vehicles showed up. I didn't take a lot of pics, as my phone was acting up, Sorry. I did receive the President's Choice Award for my '63 !

Today was back to work on the vacated house project, cleaning up some plumbing, and electrical jobs. Having 2 boxes on a single circuit just makes me wonder why, so combine them, and straighten it up. The mess some folks make while attempting home repairs really astonishs me...

Put other entry door into my shop after several years of making excuses of why not to do it!

I spent the majority of my day working on my son’s BMW. It is a 2001 Z3 3.0I Roadster. It has a bunch of little things to fix. Runs and drives like a possessed demon!

Another rainy day here, so Submit and I want to the movies to see the new Mission Impossible movie. Pretty far fetched, but it was very entertaining.

Haven't started my 71 charger project yet really, but did get tires mounted on rims, walked over to it while on Jack stands and determined it has a 9-1/4 posi:bananadance::bananaweed::lowdown:, next I'll count rotations and determine gear ratio.

Looks by far better and clean, but if the water hammers at the washing machine now, try this. That might be why they had it that way.
