"Gotta start early"
I just heard today on the news that it is now okay to start construction projects here, as early as 5 am. (With pouring cement allowed even earlier.)
Our Saturday morning trash pickup is usually around 4.45 (AM!).

If our trash pickup started that early they would wake up everyone!! Never in my life have I heard a noise as much as these guys create!!

And we have a dumpster! I have managed to sleep through it a couple times, I have NO idea how. Between the trash truck and three barking gsd's........

But to get back to the thread topic.....
Saw a new eye doctor today, appt arranged by my insurance company. No charge. Considering my previous eye troubles, checked out pretty good, no complaints.
Went to get new glasses, cause I could. Bought the cheapest frames available, (Daily wear, and sunglasses) insurance covered $150 toward the glasses and frames........ and I still had to put out $180.
Considering what I'm used to paying.... not a real bad deal. Pretty good.
That's a good price for glasses, hopefully that is for double vision. I can't seem to get out of there for less than $250 for my part.

Single vision. I basically use my glasses for driving. If I need to see something up close, I take em off. (When I was working, safety glasses were mandatory, and bifocals would have been a nightmare.) Other than that, 90% of the time they are on the nightstand. I'm nearsighted, but my bedroom TV is big enough I don't even need em for that, lol

I have bifocals and they are a PITA some times, especially if I'm under something looking up, like working on your car on a lift. I should have gotten single vision readers to help me work. I still might do it as insurance will pay for 2 pair a year. I'm the same with the tv as I can take my glasses off and see the tv okay.

funny story about glasses, I wore them since I was about 36, mostly bifocals, last October my left eye went almost completely blind overnight, when I woke up it was like it was shielded with about 3-4 sheets of dirty plastic, could only make out colors and shapes, had cataract surgery on both eyes and my vision is perfect in one eye and better than in the other, if only I had known, would have had the surgery earlier in life, but now I don't wear any glasses, can see distance and read fine print like you see on medicine bottles with no issue.

My wife had it done about 3 years ago as she wore glasses all her life. No more glasses and her vision is perfect. I've got the start of them the doctor tells me. I can tell as I need more light to see now. So if the wife yells at me for not seeing something I just say "I can't help it I've got Cadillacs in my eyes."

I took down a tree growing at a severe angle. I've been watching it for years, hoping that it would start growing vertically when it found a spot toward the sun among the other trees, but it didn't. Growth and the angle of lean seems to have accelerated in the last two years, so it was concerning. There were two vehicles under it, but I moved them. I'm not an arborist, but I set up some rigging to control the fall and got it down. Although I have a nice, pre-EPA meddling, gas Stihl 290 chainsaw, I took it down and sectioned it up with a battery powered 8-ft pole saw. I also took down a couple of smaller pines. I will get the stumps with the Stihl.

No vehicles were harmed in the felling of this tree.

These guys are noisy too.....plus they try to destroy the trash cans.

Finally got my garden tractor fired up after it initially died and figured the fuel filter was done. Started out just changing the fuel filter since it hadn't been changed in a lot of years. Took it out to mow and it promptly died again after a few minutes. Fiddled with it for awhile and and removed the carb and noticed it had water in it. Turns out that I probably could have drained the carb and put fresh fuel in the tank and that's when I noticed the tank was a bit cruddy.....plus had water in it. New carb later, tank out and cleaned and all new fuel lines went in with a new fuel pump too. It's a rear engine with the tank in the nose to it took about 5' of line. Need to adjust the carb a bit and make sure there's no leaks. Maybe it's good to go for another 40 years! Naw. Don't wanna live that long no ways!

Are you talking about the garbage men or the gsd's?
This was my garbage can that I kept crushed soda cans in...... till I left Magnum home one day. (He has separation issues, lol)
