On the challenger it was the alt wire going through the bulk head. So they showed how to take the load off of it by running a wire from alt to starter relay. So weres the weak spot on the 70 b body? thanks Dave

I think that all the cars and trucks shared a similar wiring route and design. What is weak on one will be weak on all of them. I bypassed the ammeter on my Charger, my 75 Power Wagon and soon will do it on a few other cars here.

Inspect and maintain all your ground connections.
One common point for issues is the bulkhead connectors. Inspection and maintenance of the bulkhead connector is always a good idea.

Ammeter. Easily burn to the ground.
