Yankee Express RestoMod Project

Gahhh made me get up after a brutal day, and hobble out to the garage to prove it. My ibuprofen hasn't kicked in yet. lol. The other front tire and rim is sitting up under the right front wheel well.

Details, make sizes etc. on the wheels & tires :lol:

unless maybe you covered it already,
I didn't go back & look :poke:

The fronts are Weld Draglites 15x7 with M/T Sportsman's 26 x 7.50 x 15 and the rears are Centerline's with M/T E T Streets 26x 11.50 x 15's.

Placed the 8 3/4 back under the rear and bolted up the M/T's just to make sure they cleared with the back space. Look fine, lots of room. The front's however will need to have some long studs put in the rotors as the stock ones don't even make it all of the way through to the other side of the mounting surface. There's a thick disc inbetween the two sections in the middle of the wheel so the wheel is about 1 3/8 thick in the center.

You may have to go to a shank style lug-nut
with the long wheel studs like NHRA rules recommend,
they usually have to be open ended too
right click on photo for info...
{don't quote me on the part #'s, I'm not sure what they were for now, just for examples}

or a closed end shank style like these generic type below

Rim Lugnut Guys 10 pack Shank style closed end Lugnuts s-l300.jpg

or you end up with a 5/8" stud & washers & flat bottom nuts
BUT; you need to modify the rotors hubs etc. to get them in,
they fit thru the wheels no problem, necessary to use them though...

these were from Lenco IIRC for a Dana or 12 Bolt {?}
full floater in an Altered, I don't remember which...

Finished cleaning the undercoating off of the wheel wells in the front. Grinded them down to bare metal and then hand sanded the tight spots. Finished in self etching epoxy primer. Made some small 90* angled pieces to go up under the cowl lip and rest against the smooth firewall so I could finish welding that in place. Finished it up in the epoxy too.
So, the front end is done. Moving on tomorrow to the rear.
