Paint isn’t an easy thing to do, you’re doing a great job.


I painted the engine bay on my car, prepped everything as good as I could, cleaned everything I could, but still didn’t get everything, it’s at least mostly covered up by an engine.

Air pressure will do it, mixing only a certain amount of paint at a time, painting a different times of the day. Best to mix everything you need and a bit more and paint everything at the same time and do not adjust air pressure once you’ve tested and approved of the fan pattern.

Also the directions on the can say one thing and the website directions say another thing. I followed the can. Mistake.

What do you all suggest to get this new color on without it being two shades/ Do I need to get rid of the darker or the lighter sections? or what?

You could sand it and then seal it. That’ll keep any of the different shade colors from showing through.

Painted and installed the coil bracket, installed the valve cover gaskets, and cut the neck out of a wire loom base so it would slid under the edge of the corner valve cover bolt so the wires would look better.

Figured out why my fender front braces are too short to reach the frame. They don't go to the frame, they go to the bumper bracket. lol...duh.

Putting the insulation in. I saved the insulation from about 80 packages of Home fresh meals. If they can keep food cold, they can keep a Dodge warm or cold. They only need to be peeled out of the plastic sheeting on both sides. Glued right up. Plus, the shiny foil looking ones are from another company and thin so they go on the roof. The end pieces are shaped exactly like the ends of the roof sections too, like they were made for the car! lol. Too easy. And free.

3 coats might bury both colors good enough provided it's not a transparent paint? I've done plenty of totals where there's bodywork in primer and blended it into the other panels so at least you're starting off a lot closer in shades.

Got the floors and doors and roof done except the firewall. Carpet is going over all of it so it should do fine.

I finally solved the gauge issues. Pulse versus analog. I took the damn dash gauge pod apart and chucked the digital section. lol. I found Autometer Gauges in the correct sizes for everything except the fuel gauge. I'll have to put that one in the armrest cubby or something and leave the digital face plate dial insert up in the pod, glued in place. This way everything is analog/ mechanical. Next problem is the stereo. I need to power that puppy up and see if I can make it go without the computer. If not, THAT bastard is going in the trash. I'm finished trying to break my brain over this ****. Time to just get 'er done!

Working on quarter window mechanism installation today. Thank GOD for Speedbird and his sticky over on the 66/67 Charger thread. That plus the parts and service manuals has seen me through. Fortunately, I did NOT remove those cross looking clips from the rollers. And my rollers are still in good shape. I have found all of the parts too. Bonus. Remember, my car only had 69,000 miles on it.

Just don't bake them in the kitchen in YOUR house.....I did that with my brake drums years ago, and my Mrs hit the roof.
Smelled like a 747 had just re-fuelled for about a week.
