Yes, they are still out there waiting to be discovered!

Picked up a piece at the Portland Swap Meet that I think fits the car perfectly.

I'm big fan of the GTX family. Especially the Hemi and Six Pack cars. Of course I'm partial because I own a 68 that I turned into a Six Pack. Do her proud my man - you've got a sweet car to work with....

Got the brake plumbing finished and the new steering box in. Short of a steering coupler seal (on the way) and bleeding the brakes, the suspension is done. It is really tough to not clean, detail and paint the parts and just leave them as found.

Tranny is in route from Cope Transmissions.

Scored these NOS Norris rockers for the Hemi from that "other" Mopar site.

My transmission arrived from Cope and I got a few more things accomplished on the car this last week.

The fuel system is plumbed to the regulator.

I had a set of bolt style subframe connectors and with a little cutting, I got them to work with the torque boxes. Was able to use the front mounting bolt for both ears and and the rear for the inside ear. Then welded them along the front and bottom of the torque box. They can be removed someday if needed.

Lots of updates since the last post.
Finished up the rear brakes and installed the Moser axles.

Bled the brakes and found out the new Summit linelock I bought leaks BAD! Returned it and put a Hurst one on- good brake pedal , no leaks now.

With the help of a friend and my Dad we installed the motor and tranny yesterday.

It has a hemi back between the fenders for the first time in 40 years. Unfortunately, there is no way my hemi air cleaner is going to fit. I will put it in the for sale ads.

I used the Energy tranny mount and it is too tall. The TTI header on the passenger side touches the torsion bar, I am going to have to modify the crossmember to drop it down. More to come.

Which Cope tranny did you go with?
I got the 727-4 ProStreet with the billet drum, I also ordered their 9.5" converter built for my combo. Great service, John is great to work with.

Looking good, is it going to be ready for Woodburn? I gave Jamie a headlite ring for the cause to give to you. I think I have the 15x7 Ansens that were on the car?

Thank you for the ring, Jamie let me know he had it but I don't your number anymore. Damn "smart" phones. I lost some contacts and didn't receive a bunch of voicemails.
The wheels that are on the car are what was on it when we dug it out.
I'm still trying make Woodburn. I took some vacation days over the next couple weeks to get most of the work done. If all the stars align and I can get my driveshaft made, the exhaust pushrods made and an appointment at the exhaust shop, we will be at Robberson's on Saturday and Woodburn on Sunday. Hell, it's coming with open headers if nothing else.

Yeah it was cool to meet Jamie, from what he said he made a loop from Portland to You and then to Me and then back to P town. A true Mopar Diehard. We did some horse trading and I got the Ansen Mags with Roto Lugs, What a PITA they are but got them mounted. If you need help I can spend some time up there. Open Headders would be Awesome. Drive line Service in Eugene made my shaft in 4 days. Smith Bros made my rods in like 3days. Give me a call 541 735 0683.. George. Hopefully I get a ride in yours before Hemi-Itis car,no offence just logistics.

Are you going to try and find the original hemi someday? That would be cool, too! Sweet find! I sure wish I was as lucky as you.

Thank you and yes I would love to find the original engine. Had a couple guys here think that they might be able to get some info on the original owner but no luck yet. I would like to just get some pictures of the car pre '78 or racing at Fremont. Also any leads on the what might have happened to the records from HL Harris Chrysler Plymouth in Pittsburgh, CA.

The headers are bolted up. What a pain. You would think that with what they cost that you wouldn't have modify them to fit. they hit the torsion bar on the passenger side and the corner of the trans bell.

Here's the modified tranny crossmember to make the Energy mount work. I know that this has been discussed on the forum before. Why can't stuff fit the way it's supposed to?

The battery is mounted in the trunk and the kill switch is installed. I can remove the shutoff rod for just driving around and re-install it when we go to the track.

Painted the Griffin aluminum radiator with Eastwood radiator paint to make it look more stock. Going to put it in today, make the carb fuel lines and clean up some odds and ends. Then beer and BBQ. Happy 4th of July and God bless our troops!

Among all the other things that were incorrect on the "ready to run" 472 that I bought, I found out the exhaust pushrods were too short when I assembled the rocker gear. Smith Bros came through again and Pierre had my pushrods ready in a day. Man I'm glad that they are on my way to work!

Made the plug wires last night and got the front of the engine put together. A few more details finished. Very close to firing it up.

Also my driveline showed up from Driveshaft Specialists in San Antonio, Texas- on time and looks good.

Did the break in this morning and drove the GTX. It feels really good but needs the 4.10 gears installed. Driveline is an 1 1/4" too long, I'm going to have to send it back. In the meantime I borrowed the one out of my Road Runner , it's a little short but will work. I couldn't wait any longer to drive it. Happy to say no leaks or problems. Damn it's loud with straight headers. Luckily my neighbors are cool with it. Had time between cool downs to button up some of the small stuff. A couple final things tomorrow and off to the exhaust shop.

Wish I could figure out how to load the run video from my phone.

Absolutely beautiful. Sure new paint would be nice too, but that thing looks real and mean! I for one think leaving it original was an excellent decision. I'm so jealous! In a good way. Congratulations.
