The FSM for my 72 RR says to remove the bumper to get at the taillight housings! Gotta be another way. Anybody do this before? Thanks, Don.

"You gotta be kiddin me !" Afraid not, I must say removing the rear bumper is much easier than it appears. Once out, very easy to access housings and harness.

undo 8 fasteners in the trunk and unplug the harness
not a very hard task to accomplish...

Oops. Maybe I should have read more before whining. Thanks all.

I just did this last night on my 72 satty. It will be much easier if you have a 9/16 flex ratcheting flat wrench and a 9/16 ratcheting shorty. The two bolts that go up through the bottom dont give you much room to turn a wrench and a socket wont fit...

As mentioned, unbolt the complete bumper & brackets from the trunk. Much more work to attempt to separate the bumper from the brackets still bolted to the body.
