...fixed some battle wounds from the race days i assume, dinged up cross member was the worst, was planning on leaving it, but went this far whats a few more hours, went thru 4 1/2 tubes of seam sealer, looking pretty good, doing a final look over tomorrow, should have some color by the end of the week.

Did you use seam sealer to smooth the torsion bar cross member, or some other product? I have a few battle scars needing repair, too.

my body man used fiberglass, go back a page or two it shows it, seam sealer is a bitch, cant sand it, used in spots where metal came together and areas couldn't reach well

Love that color. Looks better than new!
thanks, me too, can't wait to get it out in the sunshine.

dropped off the 440 block to the engine builder today, going stock looking said he should be able to get 550, 600 horse no problem, also i picked up another project to store next to the charger when she gets home, this one doesn'20151002_131142.jpg20151002_213750.jpgimagejpeg_0.jpgIMG_5150.jpgIMG_1329.jpgt need quite as much work, just a lot of waxing.

checked jegs order looks like my fender is finally gonna ship, got 400 miles on the hellcat this weekend in between rain showers, the computer is supposed to turn on the full horsepower between 500 and 600 miles, its so bad *** now i'm kinda afraid what that thing might do. fender should be here by end of the week, will help Derrick (body and paint guy AKA good friend of mine) set the fenders, hood, and valance, slow but sure, not going as fast as planned but its going right. engine compartment will be painted monday a little more detail went into that Derrick used 1000 grit and wet sanded, left all the factory welds and metal strecthes alone to be visible after paint since the front of the car was so clean. That way it looks like I had nothing to hide. working on getting tranny and rear end started soon

fenders in, engine compartment completed, final panel fitment this week1968 charger final paint clear done oct 12 2015 moter bay 004.jpg1968 charger final paint clearxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 004.jpg

well fenders are in. passenger wont even come close to fitting, cant even fix it bend in metal is 5/8" wrong will leave a big gap, thought about cutting it re weld and fill but, after closer examination top body line is wasted goes in and out fron sharp point to way round to sharp a couple times, really sucks, any one have any decent oem fenders our there?View attachment 281429View attachment 281430View attachment 281433

Mine was the exact same way i swear. We streched the inner fender out because as long as the hood fits correct in between them and lines up perfect to the cowl, the adjustments can be made to close the gap.

looks like quite a stretch I put the old beat up stock fender on and it fits perfect, i will have to check the hood clearance from side to side and see where i'm at. thanks for the info

Believe it or not there is a lot of room that can be made up from the core support and the grill support together. And after a lot of beating and bending it still fit correctly if you zoom in you can still see how the inner fender is away from the actual fender near the hood hinge and see that that gap is still not closed all the way

Well after three days of fitment weve got it lined up suprisingly well. there was a small gap between the front inside of the new fender and the outside of the old inner fender on both sides which amounted to about 3/8" on each side. Torqued down both sides evenly pulled them out slightly but allowed fitment of hood, worked out well, a little hammering on the inside of the top body line to crispen it some tape and fiberglass should be sweet here in a few days, hammered bottoms of the doors a bit to line up rockers, and a little on sides, a little file work and mud should be same results. well I know I said this before but she should be home soon for assembly, cant wait, set grill in place with valence looking like everthing will line up well. you were right csyco.20151027_152236.jpg20151027_152246.jpg20151027_152302.jpg20151027_152304.jpg20151027_152321.jpg20151027_152310.jpg20151027_152333.jpg20151027_152338.jpg20151027_152347.jpg20151027_152421.jpg20151027_152435.jpg20151027_152443.jpg20151027_152451.jpg1968 charger repair fenders tail panmail valence oct28 004.jpg1968 charger repair fenders tail panmail valence oct28 008.jpg1968 charger repair fenders tail panmail valence oct28 009.jpg1968 charger repair fenders tail panmail valence oct28 001.jpg1968 charger repair fenders tail panmail valence oct28 002.jpg1968 charger repair fenders tail panmail valence oct28 005.jpg1968 charger repair fenders tail panmail valence oct28 007.jpg

Totally awesome man....once the body panels all line up straight you ABSOLUTELY NEED to do one of two things BEFORE paint:

1. Assemble the drive train completely and install it then reallign everything and remove it.
Or
2. Assemble the drive train, install it, reallign everything then weld in frame connectors....

If you dont, the massive weight shift in a unibody car will be off and you will never be happy with door/hood fit and possible allignment issues

The Car is coming along Don. Great looking Hellcat you picked up too. I'm jealous!

Nice looking gaps!!!! These old Mopars aren't known for their fitment but yours looks far better than I'm used to seeing. Great job!
