Time to hit the Track.

Malex.
.
Yes. 2 passes and that's it. 10.490 @ 128.2.
Sorry Wookie it's plumb full where I am. Daley kept a spot hidden for me up the Mopar camp. Some room in the grass I see. Where you were last time. If something comes open I'll let you know.
Malex...are u keeping it wide open at least 50 feet past the lights to make sure u get the top mph ?

Hi Mike and I think so. Will have to make sure going forward. I'm out now. 2nd round I staged and the damn trans brake didn't work and it rolled thru. It did that a couple months ago. Not sure why. Then at end of the track I tested it and it worked good as ever. Will check for a loose spade fuse after. A hell of a good time though. Next time out I'll have a super victor and dominator on. In 3 weeks. The track here is 17 or 1800'. Don't know how that works. HOws your car working. 130 yet?

Day 2 in the books. Went out in the 2nd round both days. The last race just couldnt run the number, but found the reason why afterwards. Best was 10.47 and 128 this weekend. Next time out it will be with a Super Victor and AED Dominator and see how that works.

I installed my new tranny today, complete with A&A Transbrake which I have never had yet. Worked great in the big parking lot by the shop. I race this coming weekend. I will report results. Hope to go in the 10.20''s at 130 or 131.

That sounds like a race for Barney.

Sir Budnicks, I'm having the time of my life! I'm dreading the end of racing season is almost here. I mentioned that my car wouldn't run the number on my last race. It ended up that I had a head gasket go out on me. No problem though, I found the reason for the failure, gaskets are on their way and I'm looking for Mike Gaines 130MPH pass next time out!

Good to hear :thankyou:,
well not that you had an issue, but you found it...

I like Cometic's multi layer steel shim MLS or MLX

I've also used the Fel-Pro Perma-Torque gaskets
with the stainless combustion chamber ring,
but they are 0.039" compressed/torqued & a 4.410" opening
kind of kills some compression...
Fel-pro had good luck on my street engines,
but race combos I go either Cometic MLX or
Hussie dead soft full copper, you can get them in
almost any thickness, almost any bore diameters
I use to run O-rings/Stainless steel 0.060" in the block &
a 0.030" deep receiver grove in the heads too,
I never had any fail, even with 3 kits of N20,
or fully blown, FI alky
...

anyway;
The Cometic's are in many cases thinner when compressed &
also you can get a smaller bore sizes, depending on
what you need for quench area & the style of cylinder heads
for Mopar B/RB Wedges from, even custom sets if need be
4.25", 4.35" 4.38", 4.410", 4.500", 4.600"openings,
all either in
0.027", 0.030", 0.032", 0.036", 0.038", 0.040", 0.045", 0.051" etc.
They ain't cheap but well worth the extra $$$

Keep it up, I like it...

You know your head gasket Sir Budnicks! I have a set of 4.350 .036 Cometics on their way to the border. That is what my 505 bore is, 4.350. I was running FEL PRO 1009's when I encountered the problem, which are .039 thick and 4.410 bore. There will be a little more compression now with the Cometics being .003 thinner, .060 smaller and there's nothing wrong with that, bumps me up to about 12.8. I would have gone thinner but with a .002 deck I didn't want to get too tight on Quench. I'll be at .038 Quench now. With your comment though I'm wondering how much the cometic might crush when compressed, any idea?
DVW was kind enough to give me some helpful pointers on torquing, which I'll be using when going back together. I caught the problem right away but I still ended up with some milky oil. Hopefully it won't take too much before it cleans up. I'm hoping one change?

You might be screwing up ! I`ve got 4.380 cometics on my 4.350 bore, the fire rings are very close to being flush w/ the cyl.. A 4.350 bore gasket my squash enough to hang over in the cyl. Better c heck them!

Ok Bob thanks. A call to Cometic is best in this case and I'll be measuring, that's for sure.

MPH is measured now only before the finish line. I believe the speed trap starts 66ft before.

Yes of course. See you in a couple of weeks.

Doing some mock up while waiting for my head gaskets to show up. Will be an interesting test to see how the Super Victor and 1050 AED Dominator stacks up against the 750 Eddies on the Indy 440-25.
IMG_4358.JPG

The Indy set up with the eddies weighs 53 lbs, the Super Victor and Dominator weighs 26 lbs, 27 lbs lighter.

Doing some mock up while waiting for gaskets. Basically there's no difference in height between the 2 set ups.

Will be checking the 4.350 cometic gaskets real closely once they show up, hope they work.
