More bad news at Tesla motors...

Electric cars can use audio systems to make them sound like a locomotive if desired.:)
I am with you that electric cars are essentially powered by coal. A topic that usually causes pain for those that have a hard time looking past their nose.
I believe that's where efficiency can start. With the grid. 60% of all carbon use is for generation of electricity. Solar is also going to win. Just WAY too much solar energy hitting our planet every second to ignore. But until that's captured? And stored? We will struggle with any "New Green deal" But it is catching fossil fuels in economic viability. It's foolish to ignore as a longer term investment?

The power of the sun is indeed what our world runs on. It always has and will always be true. (until it burns out)
The questions that usually come from conversations like this tend to lead to misunderstanding about the overall perspective of our world.
Here is yet another perspective about the word CARBON and what that element's role -plays with our planet.

I agree the word "Carbon" gets thrown around and misrepresented. But to believe that the burning of fossil fuels for decades has no negative effect? Well that's just eyes wide shut.

how much fossil fuel was used to create the body panels? Glass? wiring? tires? chassis? interior? battery Boxes? so the foot print will always be there.. as long as theres roads.. theres oil being used..

as for electric cars and those fuel depots.. why not run two brass brushed underneath the car.. run a Neg/ pos grid on all the roads and run those things like slot cars.

Very true. We should all agree that there is no such thing as "Clean Energy" But. (There is always a "But".) There are forms far more impactful than others. The tipping point is not that much.

I chose to (and do) believe that burning fossil fuels actually has a -positive effect- on the world we live in. In many ways.

When one seeks out negatives they will be blessed to find them in abundance. -At the expense of ignoring the positives that make up the rolling balance and power of nature.

Usually (these days) the word "carbon" is used as the ultimate pollutant. The misunderstanding of basic chemistry and physics is normally left out of the conversations for good reason.--It --the question--tends to push the questioner to a place they have already decided to not go to. The place of learning more stuff.

The tipping point is not that much.

By that statement--I gather that you have been told something that is a near and present danger.
Are you in fear?

My question is meant as an illustration about where we are vs reality.

It wasn't long ago in history that the world was a flat place. --Many died when they spoke up with another idea about how stuff works.

Todays "flat earth" is all about the word -carbon.

For those that really want to control the "climate"- please go after the king of all "greenhouse gasses'. WATER VAPOR. --(humans exhale large amounts of this stuff).:) --And the sun is relentless in its natural effort to evaporate water and place that vapor to give all of us the bounty of the "greenhouse" that is vital for all.

Question--what is the history behind the now well used and abused term "tipping point"
What is the motive for even coming up with a provocative term of the like?:screwy:

Could it be a compassionate effort to educate?:steering:
Just maybe another motive is happening.

VOTERS BEWARE--of electing snakes (and their snake oil) to do your bidding.

Don't forget the farm subsidies that pay for growing food to be turned into ethanol that we all love to adapt to.:realcrazy:
Most farm subsidies $$$, doesn't go to farmers
it goes to pay for food-stamps, welfare social programs

I wonder what it was like back in the stone age ? Rock and wood , dirt and water. Walking from a cave 50 feet away would of been a adventure. :D . No power, no heat, no fn nice house , no stores. Eat or be eaten.

Give that oppertunity to the tree huggers today. That would messed them right up.

As a conservative I hate more taxation

BUT; seems they (electric car owners) need to be taxed extra

What about the taxes, based on our current fuels
supposed to be used to fix roads, the electric cars will all share
will they have to pay a per mile or an added yearly tax compensation ?
possibly instead, to cover the loss or revenues,
because they don't use fossil fuels
when they will still be using the same infrastructure as fossil fuels

for not using fuels, gas, diesel, ethanol or bio/flex-fuels etc.
they need to pay their part, fair is fair right
that's what the other people promoting this stuff constantly cry/say

as much as I hate a tax on something else,
or more govt. waste/oversight BS...
BUT;
I hope something is proposed to hit the electric car market/Owners
for helping & paying for the roads, that they share, with dinosaur fuels cars
with little to no skin in the game

or will we all get screwed ?
by the electric prices/cost
to cover expansions/upgrades for all the electric cars on the grid recharging
or US all getting a surtax etc. to cover for the people
with electric cars that don't pay the gas/fuel tax,
meant to cover road building & repairs, policing etc.

We have surpassed the 400 ppm CO in our atmosphere. Has not been at this level in over 800,000 years. The increase in fires, powerful storms and sea levels is exactly what was predicted. And its going to get worse. This is not an opinion. It's science. And the "denying" crowd just needs to be ignored. With their absolutely no facts or studies counter argument. Ignorance has to stop. You don't have to believe anything I say. But those who are taking VERY serious? The Pentagon and US intelligence agencies. Ones who's job is to predict future global unrest. Then war. US Navy is planning the closing of our largest military port in Norfolk because of rising sea levels due to climate change.

It doesn't mean the end of motorsports or classic car appreciation. That’s so small of an impact it's not measurable. But how we generate electricity? And the bulk of transportation in the US? Plenty of room to improve.

If it wasn’t for the Solyndra minded administration at the time, there would be no Tesla. Can’t make it on their own like our heros did in the day. Tesla success soley on the backs of the taxpayers. Enough. Green schmeen. We produce more fuel than anyone ON THE GLOBE. Let’s use it.

That’s it. I’m going out to the driveway to take the gas cap off the R/T for a couple days. Is the climate changing? Yes. How much we think that it is the cruel western world is narcissistic.

Didn't we just hand 100s billions to the car makers? Chrysler has got hand outs multiple times. So I wouldn't go down the blame game. I'm saying if you truly believe that burning of fossil fuels has had no impact? That's a special kind of stupid. And nothing I can say will help.

Oh Im sure fuel has a impact and with the population there is . its huge. But I think us as users have been use to it for so long. Some of us think its part of life. Alot of us depend on it as well. As for automakers sink or swim with no hand outs. Thats my opinion. Electric cars and steam cars were a dream to some folks from days gone by and they failed. I dont think the were handed any funds to try to recover. Some great ideas back in the day after the horse buggys

Whether or not the US Navy closes down that port, the level of flooding is mostly due to the land sinking in that area, which it has been doing at a rate over three times greater than the rise of ocean levels.

I will never drive an electric car. When cars are against the law, i will have one. 80% of the energy in this Country comes from fossil fuel and will for a long time.

You need this shirt in green (which I have) to show you care about the environment........

That’s it, the gas cap is staying off all week.
