I'm about to get one, to have it in case what I expect to be a GREAT report is all that I anticipate it being.
There's an A-bodies Only guy who has this Weiand 6bbl intake:

And he sent it to F&B, who makes these amazing 3x2 throttle body/direct port injection systems, usually with the Indy ModMan intake, like this:

and they may be able to use my current Edelbrock/Chrysler aluminum 6bbl intake, but for the RB stroker the A-body forum member has, they did this with the Weiand:

So I have other priorities, but I want to think I will live long enough to build my stroker motor, and I sure would like to have the Weiand to top it off with.
I may play with the Promax modded Holley carbs I have now, and put them on the Weiand with the recommended "dams" on the floor of the plenum, like this:

but ultimately my vision is to have it setup by F&B for EFI.
Have any of you run this intake or have good first hand experience with anyone who has?
Opinions and suggestions are welcome, even if it's something that may be contradictory to what I think.
Thanks!

My recollection of those is that the guys that REALLY made made them work, did more than the "Mopar tips". Wish I had tried one. Sure seem great if you get the fuel distribution good. Seems like a lot of dyno time.

A few guys tried them in N/SS with a modified 2x4 top. Never worked real well for big power as the runners were to small and too long.

That was NOT one of the more successful manifolds!! Killer looks but that's about it. Good luck with your project.

I repeat, I recall it takes lots of work to make them real good. My TM7 & 850 would take one easy if the Weiand wasn't really tricked.

Long narrow runners =
good for torque.
I’ve never heard anyone complain about using one.

There is also the Edelbrock version. The Weiand is the preferred.

if the Weiand wasn't really tricked.
I think a new pinnacle of "really tricked" is the 3x2 throttle body (1900 CFM) Direct Port Injection system...
I don't think any other tricks with carbs could compare.
Change my mind.:)

No doubt direct injection is a BIG improvement. Air distribution still needs to be addressed. Seems like a cool option with required amount of work.

There are 2 I am looking at.
One is available for $1k and has the brace as cast:

parts-9-1-16-014.JPG
parts-9-1-16-015.JPG

And one for $1200 but like others I've seen, the brace has been removed, and you can see where it was:

I'm inclined to save $200...

I don't think any of those 6 barrel tunnel/cross rams are worth more than a couple hundred bucks. This same opinion was voiced in one of the Mope magazines a while back also. I think patience and visits to some of the larger swapmeets would be worthwhile. But hey, its just my opinion and its your money! If you have a hard on for one and just can't wait then go for it!

I think patience and visits to some of the larger swapmeets would be worthwhile.
The only swapmeet of any size that is close to south Louisiana is Mopars at the Battleship in Alabama once a year...
How much does travel to, say, Ohio or Pennsylvania cost? What about when you are a 1 man business and if you don't work, work doesn't get done?
It's more economical to buy a good example of this intake than to travel the country looking for, hoping to find one.

Well, Carlisle is in two weeks. If you were to ask nicely, members on here might keep an eye out for one of those and get the vendors info for you. Just a thought. I doubt the one's you're looking at will be going anywhere soon!

As far as travel to those shows, its an 8 hour drive for me to Carlisle. I often have no reason to go other than its a short vacation. Cost of travel, hotel (I only go for one or two days) and meals is under $500.. If I score something then its a bonus.

Well the one pictured on Moparts was actually sold about 2 months ago. The guy has 2 more Weiand P3690982 6bbl intakes, but he is not tech savvy, and without pictures, I'm not spending that kind of money on an intake that I can't see or know whether or not it's been modified.
The other one has had the intake runner cross brace removed, and is another $200 over the cost of the $1000 unit.
I would appreciate it if any forum member would keep an eye out for one of these in the $1,000 range or less, and I want it to be either unmodified or if it has the plenum floor intake port dams, that they be something that can be removed without damaging the plenum floor.
Thanks guys, and thanks Stanton.

Just buy a regular Edelbrock 3x2 manifold and cover it with a 6 PACK AIR CLEANER like it did.
If you don't like the Original 6 pack air cleaner like shown in this picture on my car, then I have a billet aluminum 6 pack air cleaner like shown in the other picture in this post for sale.

Mike,
Thanks for jumping in, I appreciate your experience.
I don't know how there is confusion, but I HAVE the Edelbrock/Chrysler aluminum 6bbl intake and Holley carbs, modded by Promax, up and running pretty darn well.
The Weiand P3690982 6bbl intake is for future plans. I may do the plenum floor mods with the dams to block fuel from running down the intake runners, but only in a manner that can be cleanly undone.
Ultimately my goal with the Weiand P3690982 intake is to send it to F&B and get a 3x2 throttle body DPI EFI system back.

"moselyme" on the For A-Bodies Only forum has done this exact thing. The problem for me is that he still is working on his late 60s Barracuda that the RB engine this sits atop has yet to run as far as I know.
He has exchanged messages with me, and I am chomping at the bit for feedback once he gets it running.
I think that the direct port injection throttle body setup solves all of the inherent problems with this manifold, and leaves nothing but stellar performance, but I won't really know until his engine is running. He's using a Holley control system for it, and the throttle bodies are designed to flow up to 1900 CFM!

Some pix of my clearcoated, Edelbrock/Chrysler aluminum 6bbl intake. I've gotten good at taking the Holley carbs off, apart, and back together. The reusable gaskets from Promax ROCK!

The Indy Mod Man is a better flowing lower cost alternative.
Doug

I think the OP is only concerned with the visual impact. There is no other good reason to spend twice the cost of a current "new" manifold on an antiquated piece that never worked well to begin with.

@dvw
Doug, thanks A LOT!!!
I have seen the Indy ModMan intake setup with the F&B direct port injection 3x2 throttle body setup. I always thought the ModMan was a poorly thought out, thrown together "box" with intake runners.
Please, educate me!
Besides, I at least may have a chance to make my N96 hood and setup work with the ModMan???

Actually it is very impressive looking, but I honestly think it would work great as a throttle body direct port injection system. That removes the fuel droplets coming out of suspension issue completely! I'm anxiously waiting for moselyme on the For A-Bodies Only forum to get his RB that has the Weiand P3690982 setup as a 3x2 throttle body DPI EFI system up and running so I can get a performance report.

Indy has the F&B setup with the ModMan intake, linkage, etc on their website as a package. I don't see the port injectors in this picture though. Need to add a control system too.
