I get that. I can work in the cold but if it is windy or raining, it changes my level of tolerance.
Laying on your side getting rain in my ear...Not good.
I have worked in Squaw Valley CA, an area that is known to sometimes be the coldest in the lower 48 states. The coldest day that I worked was 2 degrees. I was outside framing a roof and it was actually comfortable with the right clothes on. A few days later it was 20 and snowing with some wind. That was not good at all.

I have pulled a rear from a car in the street in a foot of snow
worked in zero and below a few times .. not fun
now, when I cant feel my hands I pack it in
as soon as it hits the mid 30's
40's isn't too bad as long as you are out of the wind
like today was miserable rain all day in the low 40's
and I really didn't get a lot done besides digging thru a **** load of parts
and of course finding all kinds of junk I don't need and missing what I swore I had
I'm trying to throw a front end together and
might be buying more parts if I can't find it.

I buy parts I already have too many of
I bought a really mint take out dash from a car complete with everything
just to get the one year only 3 spd wiper switch
I didn't need anything else from it.
just more junk to trip over and forget I have.

I have a front clip put away like Kern used here
just looking for a rare mopar to save.

I went out of my way to make sure that 70 Charger front valence pans are available from AMD. I had to twist their arm a bit,but when I offered them an NOS one to template it from, they agreed to make them. They fit really good too. I got my NOS valence pan back in good condition too, except that it has plaster on it from the mold process. No need to fix that twisted mess,but I would be impressed if you did!

Back at it today if only for 90 minutes.
If I actually spent a whole day out there I would have been done awhile ago.
I closed the gaps between panels with self tapping screws like here:

The right side is all welded up.

All the spotwelds have been filled and a few edge welds were added as well. This weld through primer may fight corrosion but it makes for a difficult weld.

I can strike an arc but it does not weld even and smooth. I have tried a few different settings on the welder, slower wire speed, more gas, higher and lower amperage and I just cant get nice welds. Good thing that I have THESE:

Lucky that the welds are either hidden or will get seam sealer around or over them.
Inside the wheelwell will get the thick undercoating. I'll still prime the bare metal beforehand with metal etch primer.

For the left side, I may try to clean off the primer where I'll be plug welding. Maybe I'll have better results by welding directly to metal.
I don't think that any of the welds would fail, they just require grinding to knock off the peaks and spatter.

It looks like this one was the same configuration.
I've been unable to get any work done this week. I've been looking for work and just landed a job today. Some here may recall my tales of long commutes with out of town jobs. THis job is within a half hour. NICE !

I have tried several different weld through primers thinking 1 would be easier to weld with, but that was not the case, they all suck.

love this stuff...... much cheaper than aerosol without the mist........ let it dry...... it's like hot sauce, I brush that **** on everything........ the pic looks like I brushed it over primer.......... I obviously ripped the primer off first

Have a opportunity to pick up a 69 4 door Cornet. After watching your build here it's making me think might be a good buy. Great front clip on it. Thinking??
