LAKEWOOD, NJ — A school bus driver who drove on the sidewalk to get around a traffic jam is facing charges of reckless driving, Lakewood police said Friday.

Yaakov Stern, 41, of Lakewood, is expected in court later this month to face the charges, Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.

The incident happened Thursday afternoon, Staffordsmith said. Stern, a driver for Jay's Bus Service, had a busload of students and was driving on Williams Street when he encountered the traffic jam, Staffordsmith said.

Video of the incident was posted by The Lakewood Scoop. It shows the bus driving up on the sidewalk on the narrow street to pass a car that was stopped in traffic.

Staffordsmith said Stern was identified as the driver through investigation by Police Officer Alex Guzman of the Lakewood Traffic Safety Unit and issued motor vehicle summonses for driving on the sidewalk and reckless driving.

Lakewood is a mess , completely taken over by hasidic Jews. they took over the town then the local government bought up all the land and had the township approve massive building developments all over without doing impact studies. Most are on aid and work the system to a "T" , several families in each house . Before I retired ( asphalt paving contractor) we did some sub development roadways in Lakewood , couldn't believe how they shoehorned in the lots and no retention ponds . Imagine the spit curls and kippot flying all over the place when the driver jumped the curb?.

Waakov needs one of these bumper stickers on his bus..........

A speeding driver lost control of his red Porsche convertible and struck a median in New Jersey on Sunday — sending the car flying into the second floor of a commercial building and killing both himself and a passenger, cops said.

The driver, Braden DeMartin, 22, and his passenger, Daniel Foley, 23, were pronounced dead at the scene in Toms River, authorities said.

Police said DeMartin was driving at “a high rate of speed” at around 6:30 a.m. when the 2010 Porsche Boxster hit a center median, plowed into an embankment and “went airborne.”

The sports car flew at least 15 feet in the air before crashing into a real-estate office on the second floor of the brick building at Hooper and Beatrice avenues.

There were skid marks streaking across four lanes of traffic near the building, but police said there were no witnesses to the gravity-defying crash.

Nobody was inside the building at the time.

The mangled convertible remained lodged upside down partially inside the offices of Exit Realty for several hours as a crowd of stunned onlookers gathered.

Authorities waited for several hours to make sure the building was structurally sound before going inside to inspect the damage.

Firefighters finally removed the vehicle from the building Sunday afternoon.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer visited the scene.

A worker in the building, which also houses a drug- and alcohol-counseling office, declined to comment on Sunday.

Nothing in this thread surprises me. Oy vey !!

Scary part is these two guys were probably just trying to have a little too much fun on an empty road early in the morning , something that a lot of us on here did if you think back to when you where young and foolish. They paid the price , glad no one else was involved , prayers to their families.
