I recently received a letter from my Insurance Agent at Classic Collectors (owned by Infinity Ins.) stating that she was retiring in 2020. The letter said my policy will be transitioned to Hagerty in 2020. My current policy with them ends 10/2020. I called Classic Collectors and they explained that Hagerty bought Infinity Insurance and I would get a quote from Hagerty before time to renew the policy. So, after reading many older threads on FBBO regarding classic/collector car insurance I decided to create a poll to gather those opinions in one place.

Hopefully, we shall have enough meaningful participation (i.e. reasons for or against any given company) to create a sticky thread one may refer to from now on. The poll is open for 60 days. You may only vote once but may change your vote, if need be.

I found the following link from SEP 2019 that was helpful. One more thing to consider, if you have a resto-mod you should make sure you get the proper coverage as they are in a different category than classic or collector cars.

Thanks for that info because I have the same company...well that sucks because now your premium will probably double with Hagerty.....

I will be checking with Safeco since my pickup is insured with them. That article said they are best for regular use of classics and have multiple vehicle discount.

I have Hagerty and after 15 years of rolling the dice uninsured I still think I'm ahead! lol

$2000 CDN (~$1480US) for $300K ($225US) worth of coverage with agreed value replacement, road coverage, liability, etc.

FYI, many have said in other threads about insurance that they went with Triple A for roadside assistance/towing instead of adding it to their Hagerty policy.

Hagerty prices are inflated because of their massive marketing and is why CC offered the same coverage for half the cost......

I had Hagerty previously and they are nothing special....other than the hype....other companies offer the same agreed to value if you do your research and you pay a realistic amount for that coverage.....

It's about all we have up here available, use to be Silver Wheels but Hagerty bought them out.

Some companies inflate the value of your vehicle so they can charge you more.

I use a company that does agreed value.

I had american collectors for a long time. When I took over ownership of my fathers 67 hemi I went to Grundy because the rates were better and they didn't need a appraisal. Hagerty was almost twice the amount of I remember correctly.

I told Hagerty what value I wanted on my cars. My Bee almost double what they claim a #1 car is worth... and they had no issue taking my money or questioned it! Mind you only $800 CDN a year for that car insured for $125K Cdn

Yeap and that is why I switched to CC but looks like my next renewal I will be on the hunt....

Can't answer your poll because I have State Farm for all my vehicles including the roadrunner and you don't show them on your list. The rate is very reasonable at around $300 a year and the car is insured for 40k. Keep in mind that I have had this insurance for a very long time so they know I have only had one claim since I've been with them and it was minor. I also have antique plates which in West Virginia means I am limited to driving it on weekends, Holidays, shows and to or from a shop so the rate here is better with this plate.

I had a claim with American Collectors on my bow tie car. And I did the damage. Told them the hood slid off. Short story is I jacked up the car with the hood on the roof during engine swap. Killed the hood and damaged passenger side door and quarter. The adjuster gave me enough for a new hood and almost a complete paint job....so I added money and did a full paint. Happy customer for sure.

i did have haggerty on mine, because the broker i had everything else with, had. haggerty wasnt that expensive. appraisal was needed.
however, that agent screwed me on other coverage, and a phone call changed everything to state farm

J C Taylor since 1989 .. I have checked other companies every few years, and have not found a lower rate. No restrictions on driving, a couple photos, and a couple questions about storage. I have never had a claim other than two windshields over the years, so I can't comment on there cooperation when there is a sizable claim.

I've been perfectly happy with Hagerty for many years now; their rates for my GTX are very reasonable, actually.
Further, I've had fairly recent occasion to actually have filed a claim on the insurance and their people could not
have been more helpful and friendly - not to mention, expedient and professional.

Further, they are a well known friend of the hobby itself, in both support of events and functions as well as in their
social media productions. Their YouTube channel regularly produces some of the best hobby programming made,
simply put.

Class act as far as I'm concerned.

I watch these insurance pissing matches all the time in the aircraft world... and nobody states WHAT they are actually insured for when stating their policy expense. Basic coverage, liability limit, agreed value or just a basic comprehensive package where you get f'd and they take your car away?

I can drive my cars 5000 miles a year.. probably more if I'd asked. Million liability and agreed value on both cars. $125 K on the Bee, $175K on the Bird. $875 for the Bee and $1196 for the Bird. $2071 Cdn per year ($1530US)

i go thru grundy if you insure a classic with them they have a deal with aig to insure your daily divers as well it saved me alot from my regular insurance.

I have Grundy on my classic cars. Less expensive rates than Haggerty. Didn't need appraisals, they don't have limits on driving to just car shows and parades etc.
